Heya Fellow LW'ers,
Been out of Modeler for awhile, and I now notice that panning around in the viewports seems jumpy and slow-motion-ish.
To fix this in Layout, I just adjust the grid size. Is there something I have forgotten in Modeler, as I don't seem to remember having probs navigating smoothly and fluidly in Modeler back in the day when I built Slave 1 in Modeler...
Can anyone help scrap off some of my Modeler rust?
Thanks,
deg

Trying to move loads of polys around? The modeller rotation is always slower than Layout's because it tries to load all of the visible polys into OGL at 25 fps, rather than switching to bounding boxes as Layout does.
Other than that, do you have any kind of universal AA settings active? I know you're likely on your Mac so I don't know how it works there but on my windows machine if I have AA on while using LW it makes the modeller viewports go crazy; single panes lock up, things dont move about properly etc. It's a nasty design flaw.

there is a setting in the display panel inside modeller (not at my machine at the moement so can't tell you which one), the one that covers all the quality settings. I think it is streamming? there are two options and one is much much faster on my machine.

You should also disable viewing cages or such... I only have the grid and normals enabled and its fast as Layout.

Turn down the texture resolution as well.

Thanks Rigel. :)
Tried all your guys' suggests, still seems sluggish compared to what I remember back in the day, and not as smooth as Layout. Oh well, I just go in for odd quick edits if needed now and then when surfacing in Lightwave so I guess I'll live.
Thanks guys, :)
