I think that title was funnier in my head, when I made it up... ah well.
EXCITING STUFF! I got my computer back from the fix it shop! I... may... have burnt out the video card... lol. But it's all good, it was still under warrantee.
So, I bring you all a present! Behold, the Righteous Smiter for those who need Smiting of the Righteous variety! Took a couple of days, didn't post in WIP because I wanted to get it done and have something to post in the finished section. ;)
To be specific, this is the 'Negotiator', a blade from Hellgate: London. I fell in love with the design as soon as I saw it, and finally had an excuse to model it (It's a welcome back pressy for my computer! :p)!

The modeling looks good, but the materials leave a lot to be desired. The biggest problem is that the blade doesn't look metallic at all.

Yeah, I never was very good with textures... For some reason my HDR wasn't being picked up by reflections. Although I think I may have just worked out why.

Nice looking sword. Mind you, those guards would make it very tricky to block a stroke from an opponent.

You know you're way overboard with Lightwave when you fry your graphics card! ;)

Ditto whats been said. Modeling is great but the metal lets it down. What are your settings on the blade metal. Maybe we can help.

Thanks all! At the moment my setting for the metal is Ray Trace Silver, and I replaced the reflection map with an HDR. However, me being me, I forgot to set the HDR as the backdrop, so it's reflecting the black... give me 10 minutes, I'll post the real one. Hopefully it'll look spiffing.
Hey Bill, not sure what you mean about the texture contest? I'm happy to post the mesh somewhere so someone can texture it...
However beware of the monstrous poly count...! :S

Come to think of it I probably should have stripped the textures off it before I submitted it, but meh. I didn't credit it or anything; should I have?

could I make a small suggestion, try a brighter background, the mesh would stand out more . .
