April Shots

It’s been a while since I posted any work as I have mostly been marketing the first quarter of this year. That has gone well but I haven’t had as much time to get out as I would like. I got a couple of days to get out in three weeks which gives you an idea. I did manage to make it over to a National Wildlife Refuge about three hors from here and spent a couple of mornings shooting birds. The cormorants are not too common around here especially getting them nabbing a fish. I just managed to get the shot as I was doing a quick eye scan of the pond and happened to see it come up with a fish. I was in a blind on this one which is how I got both the close-up and the shot of one in flight. Everything else was taken either from the car or carefully sneaking up on them. The Snow Geese were amazing. I still can’t believe that many birds can take flight all at once and not crash and burn. A hawk flew over and they all scattered at once. I got several very dramatic and over whelming shots of masses of geese in flight but this one I think really gives the sense for how many birds there were. I’m guessing there at least 5000 birds since there are about 1000 in this image and it was only about a fifth of the overall group. The old ranch house was near Burns, Oregon and the desert pic it about as pretty as it gets around here. The panorama was taken last weekend on our way to visit Fran’s parents. It’s the canyons between Oregon and Washington state and your seeing it at it’s best.
