View Full Version : "Wings" 3-views

In the late 70's, Orbis in the UK published a partwork called "Wings". The back cover of each issue featured either a modelling article, an advert, or a 3-view drawing. As I still have a full set, I've decided to scan the drawings (at 150dpi) and put them up here for reference.

Man! I could have used this about a year back. Oh well... ;)

Thanks for the additions! Additionally, would it be possible to zip them all togther? I'd love to have the whole set as a single download.

I can zip them all together when they're done, but it'll be a big file. They're about 1MB each and there are, umm, quite a few of them if I scan the whole lot.

On with the show...

That's all for tonight. Incidentally, there's a brief history of the particular plane shown to accompany each drawing. If anyone wants a particular one, let me know and I'll scan that too.

Immensely generous! These are great quality resources - I used to have these magazines many years ago - wish I had them now. Thanks!

One other thing - are there any of more recent aircraft? I'm thinking of 50's and 60's RAF types in particular - Vulcan, Valiant, Victor, that sort of thing. My particular area of interest.

I'll see what I can find - looks like I'd better scan the artwork from inside the various issues as well!

Here ya go...

Curiously, I haven't found much on the other two V bombers in this title. I'll see what else I can find for you.

I'm starting to realise how many drawings are involved here, especially if I scan the ones from inside the magazine as well as the back covers. So, I'm just going to post them in batches instead of one at a time. There's no particular sequence but the file names will tell you what each one is.

Where the drawings are split over two pages, I've tried to get them to line up as best I can. I haven't bothered to make them look pretty, just lined up the two parts.

That's why I was astonished to see people turning the whole set down for five quid (the cost of a modest lunch at airshow prices).

I figure I'm about 25-30% through the series now, I'll keep scanning and posting as long as people want this, and there's enough room left on the server.
