Just got back from my vacation in turkey. Had a great time, as always its quite disappointing to come back to england after having been in such a nice sunny place :(
Heres a collection of holiday snaps from the trip, a couple of them were taken while in a taxi and we couldnt ask him to stop unfortunately.

Thanks Greg and Chewie!
Luckily we stay with my grandparents so Im not sure about hotel prices. (£1000-ish for 3 plane tickets from London though) Eating out can get expensive, some places are a bit of a rip off and other times you get a good deal . Its getting more and more expensive every year though. For example to go to the really "nice" beach its about £5 per person, then another £6 for a sun lounger. Eating out normaly cost around £6 per person.

What? You PAY to get on the beach?

Well not the beach exactly, but to swim in the "blue lagoon" you had to pay entry.

There were plenty of places to swim for free, just that spot which was particularly nice you had to pay entry.

Oooo, very cool, I love seeing foreign lands, thanks for sharing/posting. :)

Now, is it really not that sunny in England? I always wondered about that, if it was actually true or not...

If so, why is that?

Because on the whole Britain's a relatively small island. We get hit with the full force of the mid Atlantic drift which brings warm air and water up to us from the Caribbean. That air & water streams across the Atlantic until it hits the mountainous western areas of Britain first: Ireland and Wales, and then cools, condenses and falls as rain. That rain then sweeps across the country.

That's also why Ireland & Wales are known for being so wet - both get hit by the warm air first.

The warm current also accounts for Britain's being generally a lot more temperate than other locations on a similar latitude. We're roughly on the same line as New York here but our winters aren't anywhere near as cold.

So yep. Mild and wet :)

Ah thanks for the Britain climate lesson dude. :)

Being naturally curious in general, I fully appreciate such a comprehensive and thorough answer. ;)

I still have a can of "London Fog" that my Grams brought me back, as she was stationed in London for 6 years when I was a kid. I guess that's where my weather question and interest about it first started. 40 years later I have my answer. :)

My wife informs me that I'm a "blue" personality, as I always need information about all types of stuff that I find interesting. She's a "red," the exact opposite. I told her thanks for that info. And again, thanks for the meteorological info on England.

Great pics again Mdogger, glad you had a good time. :)
