View Full Version : Who

Edit: Almost forgot, the animation doesn't have credits on it, so here they are: Flying Saucer - (didn't come with a readme file, and without the old resources section to reference I have no idea who made it:wtf:.. I'm sure someone will recognize it, and I can hopefully update the credits) / TARDIS - Christopher A. Guinn
An older animation that I posted on LWG a while back, uses cinepack codec, unfortunately I didn't have anything else to work with at the time, and I'm not sure where the original frames went to, so I can't recompress it..
I think I've finally figured out how to do thumbnails for animations... fingers crossed, hope this works:p

Oh well, the thumbnail didn't work... so just click the link on the bottom for the animation

That's actually rather good!
One idea for getting this back into individual frames is to load it into Lightwave with the Image Editor. Check the info panel at the top for the image size of the animation.
Set your camera properties to the same image size.
Go to the Compositing window and set the animation to the Background image.
Set your frame slider to the same number of frames as Image Editor reports for the animation.
Set your Render Options to save the images somewhere. Then press F10 and watch the magic!
You now have individual frames for that animation.

Nice little animation. There's not enough Who around CG parts. I want to make a fanfilm of Who but I'm too lazy :) And the saucer is an embarassingly simple one that I made a while back.

Great stuff! I look forward to seeing more Dr Who. Maybe a Dalek or two, some Cybermen...

Another one, this time a very simple animation, still using the TARDIS by Christopher A. Guinn
Using DivX... but since it's almost 9 seconds long and not very compressed, it's quite large (almost 6 MB, which is better than it would have been with cinepack, but what isn't?):D

It has changed a lot over the years... most of the TARDIS models I've seen online have been there since well before the new series was on the air:)
I actually did make a new series texture set for Christopher A. Guinn's mesh.. I just haven't used it much yet..

Nice. Always good to see some Who animations:)
Speaking of which; has anyone seen these? http://www.alteredvistas.co.uk/index.html
I loved reading the strips as a kid and they might be worth a viewing.

I like that animation, but it's too slow and steady. I like the fast moving, unstable tardis flights, although that wouldn't show off the model as much, which looks really good!

Why don't you use this one? It's much better and far more accurate to the new series version.

I did try that version, but without the scene file (still using 7.5) it came out looking like this...
http://www.foundation3d.com/uploads/art/2008/02/-29-291891_tn.jpg (http://www.foundation3d.com/uploads/art/2008/02/-29-291891.jpg)...not really sure what happened there, but it seems that for some reason the "Wood" textures were not applied:confused:
When I tried to use the existing UV maps to rebuild the wood texture, it came out a little swirly...

I tried again this morning, and the result is more promising:)

I have to assume these texture issues are the result of some incompatibility between LW versions.. otherwise I probably would have switched to Builder's model a while ago

Ah, it's because the textures are applied nodally.
You really need to upgrade :p
The latest re-applied version looks decent though, aside from the luminous lock and the overall darkness of everything else.

There's a severe lack of Who animations and images... good to see there's some interest though. And has anyone actually seen any of the Altered Vistas work? I saw them a while ago.

Still using the older TARDIS mesh, but considering that it doesn't really fly that close to the camera this time it shouldn't be too distracting...
http://www.foundation3d.com/uploads/art/2008/06/-23-261305_tn.jpg
TARDIS faces off against a Dalek cruiser (or some variation thereof), and takes a glancing blow before flying off:p
The Dalek ship is obviously a bit on the low poly side, but I can live with it:)

I also may have gone overboard with the sound effects:D
