This is a request for help .. Does anyone have the Trek Models Prologic9 had in the old resources ... I lost all of them in my recent crash.. and I never backed them up..
esp the TOS Enterprise ....as I was reworking the landing deck at the time (gone now but)
or did he have them anywhere else on line ..

I have all of them safely tucked away on my backup drive.. I could get to most of them within the next few days

I've modified a number of them, but I'm pretty sure I have the original zips/rars they came in

I am working to port everything over at the moment. It's a slow process but if you look we're now starting to make progress. Patience, unless the model was corrupted it will soon be there.

Mostly just texturing, I changed around a number of panels, glowy things, and exhaust vents, nothing major... I did put quite a bit of effort into trying to duplicate the bussard effect used... I also built a few alternate registries for the constitution class, but they use texture maps so they don't stand up to the same scrutiny as the original stenciled registry

As a side note here, please do NOT publish another authors mesh unless explicit permission is given from the original author. As Bob has said, we are trying to port material over from the old site - if we can get at it, it'll be here :)

Don't worry, I have no intention of publishing someone else's work without their permission..

No worries admin . Like today I never publish or post anything against policy :)
I like the ideas of the alternate registries.. fabios version had the complete list which is a
detail I like a lot ..
as I'm not a great texturer I stencil every thing

Registries are one thing that I textured and would continue to texture though... There is a mention about making it in 3D and taking it so close to the hull that it doesn't cast a shadow - a tutorial might be in order for that one though as I don't think I'm explaining it all that well :o
Thanks for the co-operation and understanding though on the Resources and Distribution though :)

Dennis Bailey Refit Enterprise had it arranged that way .. the registry in a different layer and modelled ...with shadows turned off .. I think.. I have to read the read me file again :)

When I make a registry, I generally clone a small section of the hull, apply the texture map to the new section, use a transparency map to get rid of everything that isn't the registry, remove as many polys as I can from the clone so that it's more or less just the writing with a few jagged, transparent edges, and then I position the entire thing in layout so that it's 1 mm over the hull, and I turn off cast shadows... a little unorthodox, but it works for me:p

That's almost how I think that people do it, though for things like the Enterprise, they tend to actually model the letters out of the clone of the hull and then pop that in Layout with shadows off ;)

Yeah, I just stencil the lettering out of a copy of the mesh and position it a few mm above the ship surface - although, it never even occurred to me to turn off shadows. D'oh!
