Yarr me hearties, she be back!
I put it under transportation, because I couldn't think of anything else to put it under... it could fit under almost anything! (Well, except maybe animal)

Why thank you, mateys! (Gotta keep the pirate jargon going ;))
Looking forward to getting back into this to be honest; as soon as my animation is done that's pretty much the end of my course so I have all summer to work on it!! :D

An update! From me! How novel... ;)
Anywho, been working on a cameo (one of those brooch looking things with the wee marble face on it) for the back of the ship, to fit into the ring on the top of the rear detailing. Blimey that was a long sentence.
Got my reference image from Google, can't remember the exact site though. :S
Anywho, here's what I have so far:

That is exquisite! My mother used to have a Cameo.

Thanks mate!
Cool, I never knew what they were called until a few days ago, peering into an Antique shop, muttering, 'I need one of those...'
My mate said, 'What, a cameo?'
I replied, 'Nah, one of them brooch things with the face on it...' :P
They're really cool, and insanely detailed for something so tiny!

Amazing work on that brooch/cameo... especially the clothes. Mind telling us how you did that?

Oh, will the Petite Marie have a figurehead? :)

Why thank you, I'm glad you like it! Clothing is pretty straight forward, just used pen tool to get a single poly the basic shape of the overall bit; used the kill tool, then using make polys and add points turned the whole lot into 4 point polys. Then it was pretty much a matter of shifting some points around to get folds! :)
No zBrush for me... I was talking with my mate about using it, but then he pointed out I'd have to learn how to use it before I could actually do anything with it... ;)

Oh, will the Petite Marie have a figurehead? :)
Aye, she surely will! That was something I decided at the very start; if I wasn't going to do a figurehead and all the fun bits, it really wasn't worth doing!

That is beautiful. I'm the wrong guy to give advice on organic modelling, but the technique you describe for doing the clothing sounds like it should work with the eye. Or maybe trace the eye in splines then spline patch it?

Thanks mate. Yeah I've tried this technique for the eye before, it just never looked quite right. I've redone it since, using (mostly) the same technique, and here's the result:

Man, I have to recommend visiting this site: http://www.portraitsinstone.com (http://www.portraitsinstone.com/). The guy's work is absolutely amazing! I found it while looking for ref pics, but didn't end up using his stuff. Still nice to hunt around though.

Ho hum, an update with a random preset texture. Fiddled a bit to get it to look right, didn't fuss about it though because I'm not really bothered about tetures at the moment.
Added another flowery lookin' thing... Gotta love those flowers. Truth be told, I'm quite looking forward to getting this done... ;)
Here she be, my lady Marie:

I just had a thought... it would be the ultimate irony if I started dating someone named Marie... creepiness.
