I know there are a lot of cool cars their, but my preference is the Capri (it was my first car). Great work Craig.

Cool Craig, about tie someone else figured out this is here. BTW, it's a psin off from a suggestion you made almost a year ago.

Every time I see that Lotus I start to drool; it is just so damn sexy!

The tracked machine reminds me of the Steve Jackson Games Ogre.

Nice work all around Craig.

Nothing wrong with the watermarks. Makes it difficult for pirates to claim it's theirs and I just "tune it out".

Simply brilliant Craig!! I've often wondered who modeled the Lotus that pops up on the Foundation3D home page. Well, now I know . . . sweet!! :tu::tu:

What's with the watermarks? As for pirates claiming it's theirs, who cares? Does that even really happen? Are there really such losers out there that you think they're claiming your screenshots are theirs? Wow, dude, I wouldn't even care. That type of paranoia and fear of 'pirates, isn't really worth comprimising art for. The watermarks just look like tacky vandalism to you pics, they'd be better off without them. Don't live in fear of mythical pirates, they probably only exist in you imagination.

It is and I don't blame Craig for the comment or the watermarking.

Honestly, image theft is a MAJOR issue and it's why a lot of us either put something in that allows us to clearly pull an image up as ours or even a mesh.

Edit: oh forgot ;) Great work here CA :) none of the b5 stuff :( lol ;)

I'm not sure if anyone remembers this, but a certain image was found on the box of one of those agp video cards. They simply found an image and used it. I think it was a cg fantasy head, or something like that. The artist recieved no money for it. That's basically theft, because it was used in a commercial application.

SO Watermarks are sometimes necessary, escpecially if your work is as good as Craigs.

Really love that tank-like vehicle.

http://www.foundation3d.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19364&d=1229389373

Great concept and design.

Oh and about the watermark thing. The internet is the wild frontier. Watermark the hell out of every image you don't want stolen and pawned off as someone else's work. (It seems to me, the most complaints usually come from the would-be thieves).

CAClark
10th May 2009, 03:33 AM
Thanks man, appreciate the kind words.

The pic you mentioned (Ash Crawler) was modelled from a concept design by Steve Tappin (he was one of the concept artists on Powerdrome). I don't actually design often cos I am not that creative.

Craig, awesome work as always !

I had the pleasure of working with this guy for about a year (bloody hell, seems like 10 years ago now), not only is Craig extremely talented, he's also the funniest grumpy guy I know :)

Still don't get the Capri though...must be a british thing, can't exactly call it a pretty car. The lotus however....

CAClark
26th October 2009, 11:21 AM
Haha thanks mate, appreciate the kind words from you..... it was a fun year I think you'll agree eh Wiek? :-P

The Capri was designed as a European equivilent to the Mustang, where it did draw clear inspiration...... and after my dad having one from almost new when I was 11 or so, I was hooked, and have owned 5, and would like to get one again.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot guys! John, My first was a 2.0 and even then was a pretty willing car... but no beating the V6's though, especially the Essex V6 engine which IMO was a nicer drive than the Cologne V6.

My best friend out of high school had a Capri, brown with the white stripe kit. We had a blast running around in it at the time. It was a four cylinder but it handled well and was actually fun to drive.

Yeah real cool work.
I love the tracked vessel too and the coco pops ship (I think it was coco pops)

colkai
3rd March 2010, 01:35 AM
Didn't realise it was you who'd done that coco-pops ship Craig, sweet.
How much of that 3D stuff in the AD was LW?

CAClark
5th March 2010, 07:39 AM
Aside from some Mudboxing that was done for the coco pops themselves, everything else was Lightwave :)

Cheers!

colkai
7th March 2010, 02:40 AM
Wow, another example where Newtek seem to miss 'boasting' about LW in present use on our screens.
I've always liked that advert, need to know though, the plumes, native HV's or a 3rd party plugin? ;)

Professor Moriarty
7th March 2010, 07:19 AM
Lovely work, Craig. Have you modeled the Tesla Roadster yet? Shouldn't be but a few tweaks to your excellent Elise model.

CAClark
7th March 2010, 08:23 AM
Cheers Colkai, and the smoke is HV's from Lightwave.

Prof, I'm tempted to do the revamped Exige, the Tesla is ok, but not as nioce as the native Lotus. Quite fancy doing a VX220 as well.

Cheers!

Rigel
7th March 2010, 07:17 PM
I remember the VX220 from playing the Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 game. Nice little sports indeed and would be an excellent choice for your collection.

8th March 2010, 12:45 PM
WOW very nice indeed

CAClark

Only trouble with the VX220 is that it is basically an Elise albeit faster LOL

Thanks cedmo :)

It was my Veyron, setup and rendered in Max by Geri Allen for an HDR tutorial. The mag also asked to borrow my headlights for the modelling tutorial that was done for the modo, as the guy doing it didn't have time to model the headlights in the end lol

Geri sure did the biz making her look pretty in Max though.

Craig, just looking through this again and I still really like that big ugly tank looking thing. Not sure what it was for but it's just got that ugly cool quality to it.

CAClark
7th June 2010, 03:27 AM
It's an 'Ash Crawler' which I modelled Hi & Low detail for Powerdrome. There was a track called Caldera which had an Ore Refinery..... and these drove around the landscape randomly. I always liked the design, very Star Warsy.

Cheers!

Didn't you take a Macro shot last year of a dragonfly like that? :)
