:) I knew it !!!

1999 eh? So... Fess Up Sean..
Just what was that program you used to hijack all our ram to render those back then?

Whats even more scary is that a decade on, some of those early scenes would still choke a modern box :wtf:

Did I read somewhere on the old board that you did a many of those on a viao lappy while flying on business?

anyhoo.. great to see them all in one place. and stunning too..

It dose raise one interesting old conspiracy theory again though :p

Tales have been told that the reason many of us experienced crashing in 2005 was you raiding our poly caches online to complete those mega builds....

Any truth in it?

Now I'm running with 4GB

Did I read somewhere on the old board that you did a many of those on a VAIO lappy while flying on business?

Just my old reaver ship (not shown above)

Don't feel bad. I've been doing this for along time.
This is only about a 1/5th of the stuf I have. I have hand drawn pictures I've saved since 1978. My mom has a drawing somewhere of Charlie Chaplin that I did when I was 8.

Just goes to show the difference between an artist doing work in whatever tool is in front of them, and a regular Joe with a fancy app that makes em look good... ;) Not that there is anything wrong with the latter in my book, just that you can tell talent. ;)

heh heh, I did a 2 year stretch of TS for Sierra when I first worked there, almost quit until I became one of the Network guys... Yeah the 8 hour constant phone shift, the idiots on the phones, and the idiots you worked under... As if you could measure and control each phone call into a 20 minute or less session.

Better start thinking about something else, my BP is already going up thinking about those days. :wtf:

Anyway, what I meant was that your Artistic talent shows regardless of which tool you are using be it MS Paint, Lightwave or good old fashion paper and pencil. ;)

Absolutely awsome work!

Why are these people so afraid of "nudity". What's so scary about it. How can you be so scared of seeing another human being? What's wrong with these people? Are they aliens or what? Do they not have nude bodies themselves? I don't get it. Is is an American thing?

Everyone has a differering opinion of what pornography is. In my opinion, creating art to praise the human form is fine, but using that art to intentionally invoke an erotic or sexual response is not. That's why I avoid drawing outright erotic acts.

This is the kind of stuff that helps me keep pluggin' away at this......I have got some hand drawings, stuff done in Imagefolio and other stuff done in Photoshop........maybe I have about a tenth the talent that you have but that don't matter......if in another 9 or so years I can post a portfolio a 100th as good as this I will be happy........thanks for your encouraging posts........

My first reaction was "damn, my first model was nowhere near that good." It took me a moment to remember that my first model was made when I was what, thirteen? I really kinda want to know what it would have been like for me to be introduced to 3D for the first time now instead of when I was a kid; it would be interesting to see how quickly I would have picked up on it without the half-serious lack of focus of my younger years.

I had toyed with the LW5 interface for about a week testing each tool, but the Blockade Runner complete model after testing each of the tools. Mind you that I did 5 other revisions of the Blockade Runner before I was really happy with one. The first Blockade Runner had no textures to speak of. No smoothing, No anti-aliasing, and questionable geometry.

ROFL! I hadn't seen the comics!

Yeah. Did those back in the days of doing tech support. Had to do something to blow off the steam caused by corporate stupidity.

All 109 comics are posted here: http://www.seansgallery.com/qaptest.html

My favorites are still the happy balls....

As the year comes to an end I thought I'd update this thread with all the miscellaneous projects I've been working on.
But I somehow mucked up the first post and overshot the maximum width of the IE frame. So here is the latest updates in a new post:

There's nothing quite as fun as haulin' grain. Especially when that grain is going to make whiskey! So taking a load from Santo to Stoketown Station seemed like a good idea. But as you know...things just don't go smooth.
You're not a gorram fed officer, but when push comes to shove you'll need act like one. Who is guilty and who is innocent? Old friends and older enemies make for a volatile mix, when the man who hired you ends up murdered. Be cautious and trust no one, or you could end up behind bars (or worse).
This is a murder mystery! There are two adventures. A Basic version with the entire crime laid out for the GM to use, and an Advanced version with LOTS of information and Suspects. The GM can use this to design their own murder mystery with their own means, motive, and outcome.

The Legend of the Copperline is a story of lost friends, haunting situations, dark deeds, and dreadful outcomes. It is not to be taken lightly. There's a whole lot of detail and a whole lot of options for the characters.

The Back-story
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

The "Hotel California" Cruise vessel is the brain-child of the owner Margarite Rodriguez-DeSilva. Margarite is the daughter of shipping industrialist Juan Rodriguez and his wife Estonia DeSilva. Margarite's family is rich. Not just rich but filthy stinkin' rich. Margarite had a very quiet childhood on Bellerophon, where her family owned a giant floating estate designed like an 18th century Mexican villa, filled with relics from "Earth that Was". She was a happy child without a care in the world.

She was sent to all the best schools and colleges, and eventually earned her degree in Biochemistry. During the war, she was working at an Alliance medical facility that was on a moon that was in a strategic location and became a target by both sides. Before she knew it, she was on the front line, and was caught up in the violence of the war. She saw horrible things that changed her. Violence on defenseless patients, violence on women, violence on children; pain, blood, gore. She was even the victim of rape, and was psychologically broken for some time, unable to cope with reality. When she returned home after the war she went into seclusion; trying to block out the dark memories of the past. One day she came across a relic of her father's. It was a recording of an ancient song; The "Hotel California". This song sparked something in her. She took her family’s’ riches and invested in the creation of a resort cruiser of tremendous size.
The "Hotel California" Cruise vessel is designed on the legends of old California on "Earth that Was". Shimmering chandeliers, Fabrics with warm, earthy colors, smooth arched corridors, splendid mahogany and ebony fixtures, plaster and adobe facades, patios with gardens or fountains, tiled floors, antique furniture, terracotta decor, potted palms, and exotic flowers. The warm smell of colitas lingers in the air, and pink Champaign on ice is served daily.

The "Hotel California" was designed for glamour, but not for practicality. It cannot land on a planet, and is bound to space. All passengers, cargo and crew, are transported by shuttle or dropship; or are picked up at space stations. The ship makes a yearly tour of the Verse in 2-3 week journeys between worlds.

Her mind is definitely twisted
She's got her Mercedes Benz
She's got a lotta pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends

Margarite is an attractive, sexy, intelligent woman. But she does have her problems. Margarite lives on the ship, and she never leaves it. In this way she has become a bit of a recluse. But she doesn't show it. She attends all the events and parties she can. She always has an entourage of handsome gents vying for her attentions. She has a private lounge where she invites passengers to party with her. She is very flirtatious, but not vulgar; very seductive looking but not lusty. She will often be seen dating a few men, but she tends to keep her sex life private. She spends a lot of time making sure all the passengers are happy.

How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget

There are dances every night in "The Courtyard" Plaza under the stars. The Courtyard is covered by huge arched windows that look out onto the starry black of space. The Courtyard itself is designed like a huge garden patio / courtyard with fountains, tables, and a dance floor. Its walls are lined with Mission style arches and a covered walkway. On the same deck is the Promenade Pool. It is huge, rectangular swimming pool lined with blue and white tiles, and elaborate mosaics. It is surrounded by a sundeck with artificial sun lamps. Saunas and massage rooms are also available.

The Casa de la Suerte casino is a huge game room designed like an 18th century gentleman’s club, with early Spanish-American architectural influences. The casino contains hand carved mahogany archways, rich walnut, mahogany, and oak woodwork, bronze statuary, brass and ivory fixtures, leaded glass chandeliers, mahogany gaming tables, and leather chairs.

The Mission Theater is an amphitheater (which actually takes up two decks worth of space near the bow of the ship). It houses a small historical exhibit, which contains a 900 year old mission bell from "Earth that was". The theater itself has the flavor of a Victorian era Theater. The theater contains intricate hand-stenciling, hand carved white pine archways, rich walnut, mahogany, and oak woodwork, gleaming brass fixtures, and leaded glass chandeliers.

For semi-private festivities there are the Tia Amelia Lounge and the El Agave Bar. For food there are three choices: the El Hacienda restaurant, the El Agave restaurant, and the Palm Cafe. All the restaurants have different themes but are all managed by the same food service crewmen. The El Hacienda restaurant is a family oriented restaurant with Spanish-American home style flair. The El Agave is a high end restaurant that serves fine food and carries over 250 brands of tequila. The Palm Cafe is a patio style cafe serving a variety of quick meals.

Mirrors on the ceiling, the pink Champaign on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here of our own device"
In the masters chambers they're gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knifes but they just can't kill the beast

Now on to the darker part of the story….
Margarite is slightly more twisted than she lets on. The war left scars that fractured her personality and sensibilities. She now sees any kind of violence as abhorrent. Passengers are ID checked when they come on board. Criminals are flagged and get invited to special parties thrown by Margarite in her private lounge. These parties are essential harmless for the first few hours; just long enough for the criminals to let down their guard. At some point in the evening she excuses herself, and then fills the lounge with knock out gas. The unconscious criminals are then used as guinea pigs for Margarite's biochemical experiments.

She wants to develop a chemical formula that will stop violence, and allow people to love one another unconditionally. Yet somehow she does not see her actions as violent; but rather as healing the violent. Each unconscious criminal is confined to a cell and is then dealt out an experiment. The more violent the crime committed by the individual, the more severe the test. Some of her concoctions actually work, causing the "guinea pig" to develop a fear of guns and violence. Other formulas cause hallucinations, paranoia, or even death. A simple mugger might get only one treatment, and then get dumped in their room for the rest of the trip; being told that they passed out at the party and were escorted home. A rapist or murder might get a more potent dose, causing severe and permanent side effects. These criminals would be held in confinement, and then dumped at a convenient time on some barren back world. A war criminal would receive the worst punishment-- death --their body expelled into space.

Margarite has enough money, power and influence to get the disappearance of these people covered up. But some officials of the Alliance (and some criminal families) are beginning to suspect. The only people on board who know of this activity are the captain, Margarite, and her "entourage". If any of her "pretty boys" were to quit, they'd likely never be seen again. The Captain is her uncle and her closest friend.

"Good night" said the night man "We are programmed to receive
You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"

Some individuals who have received the treatment are still on board. Some are acting crew members; grateful for the change in their personalities, believing the ship is the cause. Others are prisoners of amnesia, and do skulk work for the ship and its crew. But in any case, these people have become permanent residents of the Hotel California.
