Of Pointy Sticks and Evil Overlords

Those who’ve been with us a while through previous versions of the site know we have a wonderful method of prompting members to get off of it and move on with a project called the “Pointy Stick”.

It started out by modifying a simple cattle prod but over time as members become acclimated to the voltage it has evolved. Several versions and iterations followed one after the other with varying voltage of electrical stimulus but to date no body has really seen the top secret weapon.

We would like to solve that and upgrade to the latest and greatest, all the bells, whistles and beeps! Admins just love bells, whistles and beeps. The more buttons they have to fiddle with and push the happier they are, little Evil Overlords of course they all studied under the infamous Ming the Merciless, evil ruler of Mongo.

So we have a two fold impromptu contest to start off what we anticipate to be a long and loving relationship. There are two items to be designed, modeled, textured and rendered.

1. The weapon of mass destruction – the Pointy Stick – Deluxe model – Super Sinister mode – 150,000 jigawatt version with all the bells, beeps and whistles.
2. The new evil overlord admin. What weapon is complete without the Evil Overlord? Yes, we need a suitable icon for that lovable but despicable creature know as “The Admin” to make this contest complete.

All final entries should be submitted in this thread however, all WIP’s should be presented in the WIP section. You may post finals in the Art section as well but it must be posted here to be officially accepted.

The winning entry, chosen by Evil Overlords and their evil minions known as Mods, Staff and Contributors will grace threads across the universe, err I mean site, as we lovingly prod members to complete lost or stagnating projects. And of course, the Pointy Stick is used with the utmost care and training.

The contest will run two months ending on Jan 31, 2008.

Since we have a few entries I thought it would be a good idea to add them to the first post for easy reference.

You can post the WIP work in the WIP section and you can post the final work int he Art section but you must post the final here when you are done for it to be an official entry.

Little does anyone know that...

...all the current versions of the pointy stick have a serious kick back to them. So be careful while designing and making your new version that you don't get zapped by it because of your other unfinished projects...

The idea popped into my head as soon as I read the words 'pointy stick'. You'll have to forgive the textures, I'm a terrible texture artist; I just put them on to help convey the idea.

We weren't really planning on any type of vote or anything, it was just meant to be a fun challenge. There's been a lot of dicsussion going on about contests and challenges and I think this thread does a btter job of tyring to sort it all out.
