Yesterday we went with some friends to the far side of the state. Right on the Idaho/Utah border is the City of Rocks National Monument. This is the Castle Rocks formation, we tried to spend some time getting closer but shortly after this shot it clouded over so the rest of the day was too flat for anything really useful at this location. I intend to go out for a weekend and spend one day just hiking it noting the best locations and times of day and then the next day working with the best morning and afternoon shots.

LOL, ok, I've upgraded it to 1200 res, I have to be careful about letting to big of images out if I intend to send them to agencies.

Damn Bob, that is nice. What a perfect day for it..not a cloud in the sky. In fact, it almost looks like the sky was quick-masked and replaced with a gradient fill in photoshop! Breathtaking stuff.

Kinda reminds me of Ship Rock.

Wonder if that was an ancient fault line or an ancient Lava dike/sill?

Wouldn't mind hiking up to that big one. In another life maybe... *sigh*

Charles mentioned the sky and I did remix that one simply because I couldn't get a clean mix in stitcher. I have since reverted to a previous version of stitcher (before Autodesk bought it) and all is well again, the was what I felt was a better version of the pano anyway. This time a 1200 res for use as a backdrop.
