This is part of an animated sequence that will soon have a dragon flying in. Any thoughts or suggestions on this shot

Wow.. Very moody. I'm not a fan of the long shadow across the water though. It just seems to long and defined. Vue render?

mho, the image gets thrown off by the disconnect between the shadows on the right there in the trees, and the shadow on the castle. it's so much darker in the trees and lighter on the building, which ends up looking kinda flat as a result.

if you want moody, go for it. this question may help: does the castle have a personality in the animation? is it large and brooding, is it dangerous or threatening, is it safe and inviting. that may help you nail the lighting for the castle.

otherwise nice composition. water's great, as is that little bit of grass in the trees.

This was rendered in Vue. I think, now that you mention it the shadows are a bit much for this shot. The atmosphere is using godrays which creates some harsh shadows. I think I am going to change the atmosphere. I do want it dark and brooding and the castle has been overthrown by the bad guys soon to be reclaimed. Thanks for the input I will post new shot with different atmosphere to get you guys opinion.
