This one came as a surprise to me since I submitted this image over a year ago. I got the notification last week and the sample magazine arrived today along with the payment. My image is the Crested Pool used in the center spread of the May/June 09 Montana Magazine. It's always a thrill to see your work in print.

Excellent shot, and well deserved in print too. So, does this kind of thing facilitate more work from this and other publications?

Yes and no, these guys have published me twice now and based on what I am seeing you can probably figure once or twice a year publishing with a magazine. The key in my way of thinking is to spend a lot of time sending your work to new magazines and finding those that like your work and want to work with you.
Then you use the tear sheets, what I posted here to show your work being used in publications and other publishers see that and it lends to your credibility with them meaning you are more likely to be published in their magazines. So it does help but it doesn't directly translate to more work.
I suppose if you are so well known as say Tom Mangelsen it might but for those of us getting started it's just a lot of self promotion and marketing and a bit of being in the right place at the right time. That's what happened with the Crested Pool image. I had sent it to them long before they had a need and since they had used my work previously they remembered me and the shot.
Hope that answered your question because I'm not sure I have it down to science yet.
