I took these on the last day of our trip to Florida and I still have the skeeter bites to show for it. I didn't go prepared for the flying biting bugs and this spot was so thick with them you felt like you could cut the air with a knife. It wouldn't have been so bad except the lens wouldn't defog. I finally had to leave the camera on the hood of the car and retreat to the safety of the car and wait about 10 minutes for it to equalize. I have never dealt with that type of humidity before or the bugs for that matter. Having lived in the Texas panhandle until I was six I knew what BIG bugs are but I wasn't prepared for a solid wall of them. They had what I think are overgrown flies the size of dragonfly's. Heck they could have been small B-52's!

Anyway, after I got the shots for these I decided I had entirely enough shots of the Big Cypress Swamp and preserve.

mosquitos are nothing. did you see any of those giant flying cockroaches ( They call them palmetto bugs ). you can saddle them up and ride them :yuck:

If you ever get down here again go to the camp on SR 520 and take an airboat ride into the deep swamp. You'll get some killer pictures of places very few get to see :)
