Looks fantastic. I only looked at the 320p version, so I could be wrong, and it's major nitpiccyness, but the lights that are flashing don't seem to slow their flashing during the slow motion bit. Or do they?

That model looked really nice during the w.i.p.; it looks stunning in action!
Well done, mate.

No, Gordo, the lights do not slow down. The strobes are only one frame flashes, and I found the clip overall more dynamic to look at with them flashing at regular speed (as you see them more that way). I thought about working out a version with them actually flashing in slow-motion themselves, but I was too lazy (and/or not interested enough) to work out the timing of all that.
Good eye, bud. ;)

Between the slo-mo and the music, it reminded me of something from the demo scene: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene
Not that it's a bad thing - some of those things are pretty freaking amazing...

Never heard of that myself. I just always liked the flip into slo-mo - flip out of slo-mo effect. If I had to site a particular direct influence it would be the new Doctor Who opening with the Tradis rounding the turn in the wormhole. I always loved that shot, esp. with the theme-music playing. Not sure if they are still using it, as I have not watched since Christopher Eccleston's Doctor.
I did catch David Tennant hosting on Masterpiece Contemporary: Endgame last night though.

Fantastic work Deg, as usual. And in case anyone was wondering, Doctor Who is still using Eccleston's them. which is second best only to McCoy's theme, imho
