So I guess I'm the first one to post something for the Epic Encounter then...
Meh, why not.
So I started working on two models today:
I model in C4D and the mats are not exported into obj format. Anybody know help?
I guess I'll start working on the rest of my base/station/ship tomorrow.

Nice start. In response to the other part of your post, cinema is really bad at exporting to .obj use the riptide demo or well labelled texture maps.

The first pic is supposed to be a hallway for example on a spaceship and the second pic shows a laser tower.

So...I decided to throw the C4D stuff into the trash and learn to model with LW.
Here's my first try for a defensive turrets. Please leave comments since I'm new to that level of modelling.

I had answering to myself....anyway, since time's almost up, I decided to model a little very low-poly background fighter. Official poly count: 541
So it should only be used in the background.
I'll upload it asap.

Wow.. sorry I missed all those posts. I like the last turret. Some smoothing on it and it would be quite interesting.
