Trying Christian Fröhlich model under different lighting solutions, so some test renders and play-a-rounds, and here is another one of them :)

The background is a photo-mash.

Well, the death star is lit from the right and the background mountains from the left, so maybe it is a WIP!

Yeah I noticed that, but if I corrected it by flipping the mountains or the Deathstar for some reason it just didn't look as good, so thought sod it - no one will notice! ;)

Nice. That certainly looks dynamic, and it all blends well together. Unusual? Yes. But that's good and it works!

I'm going to give a special commendation for blending the Death Star into the sky correctly. I don't know how many sci-fi scenes I've seen where you can see the dark side of a moon or planet or whatever in the sky, and it's darker than the color of the sky. You'd think people never looked up at the moon during the day.

:) thank you, and the moon in the daytime was indeed my point of reference for blending the Death star :)

I don't know how you guys do it but every month is a challenge to decide who makes the front-page. Some of you had multiple images, each of which could and should have been there. So here's a huge congrats on this being one of the images for this months change over.

I have found the best way to do the engine exhaust light is a volumetric spot light pointing at the back of the engine with the cone angle set so that it fits inside the engine. so if this is a scale model set the light at 5 meters away with a 5 degree cone angle with a 20 meter falloff length. here is an example: [IMG]http://pre05.deviantart.net/bad7/th/pre/f/2016/005/5/d/engine_test_by_q5grafx-d9mxmxt.png/IMG] and to animate it add turbulence on the z axis. but the image looks great. im going to remake the scene from TFA when i figure out how to setup the partcles for the water wall rising from the vacuum created by the xwing.
