New WWII project

4 Attachment(s)
Hello, Friends. This year I had three big projects with a lot of 3d work. The first is a new monographic magazine about WWII- If you remind, in 2018 I made a magazine with WWII Technology, with the most sofistied and isefull machines of last world war. This year, the subject is, the more stupid, unusefull and crazy vehicles and weapons

Of course I had no time for made all models and I use my great 3D library of free or commercial models, and also I need to boy almost 12 meshes (good bless the black fr. disccounts) but also I made some new models.

They are some of new meshes. First, the SdKfz 10 in flack and transport version. It was a very nightmare, maybe 1.800.000 polygons

Hey Japa, you do have a way with 3D. Love it! :D

japa 10th Jan 2020 08:43 AM

Thanks, Bob! During last 2 years I made a lot of 3d modelling. Mainly dinosaurs (OF COURSE) and vehicles.

Another curiosity: the White rabbitt, a underground brittish tank. It was a idea of Winston churchill. Unfortunatelly the 6 vehicles builded were scrapped after the war.

The mesh needs 1450000 polygons. The real vehicle was 24 m long and weighted 130 tn

Lovely work Japa. That second one is a really weird machine.

I would not want to have driven one of those. If nothing else your ears drums would have been shattered after a few shells hit it.

With 5 mm of armour, I think if a shell hit you, your ears arent the problem :D

A magnificent sample of SGD (Stupid German Devices): the Krumlauf (Curved barrel)

bmckain 17th Jan 2020 07:00 AM

LOL, no way! Did it really work? I can't really imagine that working.

It works, but is a unnecesary work. A too complex device for a real minor problem

A very interesting weapon: the Rheintochter (Rhin's Daughter?): a SA german missile. Too big, too sofistied, too late

bmckain 20th Jan 2020 05:50 AM

Like them all Japa. Great attention to detail and even thought it's all war related it's a nice variety.

The last model (and also the more complex of all) I made for the project is the Ta154 Moskito. Unfortunatelly, I don't find any good commercial mesh for buy, because I need a lot of time (and almost 300.000 polygons in 26 rigged layers). But I'm satisfied, I think the 154 is a real beautyfull airplane

bmckain 20th Jan 2020 05:01 PM

Wow, that is really sweet! Too bad Bills isn't around anymore. He'd love this one.

I finally need to build a Pak 43. I made a mixed model, the gun is for the excellent Kas Nashorn https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models...nashorn/729506, I model the shield, the wheels and some parts of weapon mount. Finally, the "legs" are from a old FH18 mesh I buy some years ago. A real Frankenstein model, but it works

I don't know why I love WWII designs so much. They do seem somewhat prehistoric given size and proportion.

This is the final splash page. As you can see, my idea is to cmake a comparison between the little Pak 36 and the gigantic 43

That thing was a monster!
