Original Universe Projects
 
Bit of a vague title but I figure it will allow me to dump projects from other stories as well as multiple ship from a single uni.

This one is a very rough block out of what I labeled Hakaran Battleship, but I think it is more of a frigate or fast attack ship as this is how it is used. All I have to go on is a single view doodle I did some time ago. Some probably will recognize it. As is clear in the renders that whole back end of the ship is up in the air. I have yet to really decide the drive systems etc. The drive spike is suppose to be a newer development in FTL so I am not sure it will be retained on this ship.

Weapons systems are planned to go in the area where those pods are or the nipple dealies. Original work I had written torpedos fired off a rail system and magnetically driven energy systems. IE bendy lazorz. however I could not come up with a way in handwavioum science to control such a thing outside of an "emitter" Though was it was some how able to target the beam outside the ship, thus allowing them to bring more arms to bear without aligning the ship. So I dunno where I will go with this.

It is a bit large 500m maybe more. I am not sure where I want to scale it. Most of the ships in this universe are large compared to say Trek. Basically they are large engines and drive core with bits stuck on around it.

Love it, Kind of reminds me of Battlefleet Gothic... less gothic though.

Slowly defining parts and mulling out the mid to rear half of the thing. Still a might ugly aft of the struts. I think some of the proportions are still off.

Well more refinements and a replacement of bits here and there. I think I have most of the rough shapes in place time to start working all the lumpy bits into a working hull and structure. Some parts are still in need of massaging but I think most of the rough form is there. I still am not that happy with the shape of the central hull below the bridge area.

Refining some of the upper super and clearing up hull from plating etc underneath. IE getting rid of the stuck on box look.

More nekkid shots, hopefully most of this is starting to come together and look like something. It should get less blocky over time as I add in visual details to areas not blinded by plating and other bobs that are still in subdivision. Hard part is to mold those organic shapes I am prone to in paint into something workable in hard surfacing and flow especially with all the hard edges I had added in the rough painting. And then at least try to keep some resemblance to the other ships. Does look like I have a few arrant edges on things (bright triangle in one image.)









Still not sure about that conning tower and what it will contain but I did flare it up and work it a bit more. It might have the bridge or just coms crew and other things that you want away from any noise produced by the drives or weapons on ship. Likely though I will retain the battleship idea of small target and battleship like mentality of easy hulling of ships with main batteries. Technically any main weapon fired at beyond visual that hits the target would be a kill shot. It might not turn it into a fireball of death but the hard radiation would slowly microwave everything. Disabling ships would be considered high art and something that clearly requires moving in close. Generally in system fights as gav units spacial warp are a no no near planetary orbits and within gravitational influence.

Well I mulled over the subdiv union of those blisters etc I made the decision while I had typed this post and rendering the sample images. PFT that was some 2 hours or more ago. Sadly things are moving slowly as I am watching videos while modeling. Always a quick way to slow things down.

Other renders are "filling" in of the backside of this bow shield thing. While I do not want it to look like built up modules behind a shell I also do not want it to look like a molded shape hollowed out. So what that is there is a suggestion of shapes some of which I plan to work into that outer hull over time. Or that I HOPE to work into. lol HAH, probably re iterating previous comments here though so pardon if I am.

This a really an awesome design. Kind of a cross between an anime scifi show and Babylon 5. There are details that remind me of both, but the overall look and feel is uniquely yours. Great work.

Messing around with that conning tower or whatever it is. I probably should have taken some time to redefine it more as atm it is a bit simplified in structure.






Keep in mind all of the antennae and the like things are temp placeholders. There is some segmentation going on but I am not sure if I want to smooth those out too much adding density where I might never need it.

KIM that observation deck wont be a large swatch of windows but likely will recess into a segmented set of windows maybe of individual rooms. Idea is these would be for direct visual of the forward area of the ship or a means to get visual ID on anything outside.

Got sick and tired of the box modeling on the bridge bits so I moved on to screwing up parts by fooling with the subdiv parts. I also removed some details as I was thinking the forms while making things easy wont work as a object.
