The Daily Sketch Thread

Hey everyone! Some of you 'old-timers' will remember a little thread
that we had going where anyone could post their artwork/drawing/sketches.
In the end, it evolved into a fantastic channel for members to post sketches
for feedback, instruction and critique for daily sketches.

So the challenge to you is to sketch at least one thing per day.
If it comes out to your liking, then scan it and share it.
You'll find that the challenge and support will encourage you to
grow as an artist within 'traditional' mediums, and that in turn will
cascade into your CG work and improve your skills in the digital realm as well.

Alright! So whaddaya waitin' for? Grab a pad and a pencil and post 'em!

OK, I'll start - today's sketch is a pen and ink rendering of a
bat-creature with some sort of jester hat on. :wtf:

I threw out the original pencil sketch, so this is the vellum trace.
I like to use Sakura fine line pens, .01 or .005 for really fine work.

WhiteWolfz 6th Dec 2007 10:59 AM

Thats awesome! So what do you do for your free time? lol

Gordon Robb 6th Dec 2007 11:03 AM

Ah Shoot, now I'll have to find my intuos pen

Great Gremlin/Jester :)

Awesome work Woods, looks like this thread is off to a good start.

I probably wont post every sketch/day, but heres some heads and a lil sketched I liked...

nemo 6th Dec 2007 12:37 PM

What a great idea. If that's a "sketch" Woody, I can't wait to see what a full-blown drawing looks like! Neat stuff so far.

Woody 6th Dec 2007 01:57 PM

:jawdrop:

NICE Sletchvalk! Those are great.

Gordon Robb 6th Dec 2007 02:51 PM

OK, good news and bad news.

Found my intuos pen :)

Lost my inspiration :(

Over the weekend for sure.

Woody 6th Dec 2007 03:08 PM

A lil sketch for today...

Woody 9th Dec 2007 07:26 PM

Love the loose feel of the linework in your sketches Slechtvalk.
I'll try and be sure to post something tomorrow - haven't had time this weekend for anything artistic.

Recognise her anyone?

Woody 10th Dec 2007 05:54 PM

I do recognize her, but I'm blanking on a name. :wtf:

Gordon Robb... Great sketch, I have no idea who it is .

Here is my sketch #1 for today:

Gordon Robb 13th Dec 2007 10:53 AM

Cheers guys, sorry forgot to come back to this. It's meant to be America Ferrera, in her not so Ugly Betty guise..

Woody 13th Dec 2007 07:04 PM

He was a sweet pup. Never understood why people cry at the end though...

dfidler 23rd Dec 2007 03:13 AM

Just found this thread; not a lot of participation yet.

Get off ur asses already!

[edit]Err, so what's the format? Woody leads with a theme and we follow?[/edit]

Gordon Robb 23rd Dec 2007 04:05 AM

It's been a free-for-all so far. Just post what you're sketching is all.

Yup the theme is your daily sketches, as motivation to step away from the computer
or 3D for a minute and work on the drawing skills.

As promised, here's how my custom letter style
experiment came out, all vector objects! :D
