I read an interesting theory that All Access is probably less about being a viable platform that makes money directly, and more a negotiating cudgel against Amazon, Netflix, and others. Basically, they CBS wants to be able to say during their next negotiation that they got so many people to pay $7 a month (for the months of October and November 2017) just for their own content, so they deserve more money for licensing it out to dedicated streaming services.
Good for them, bad for Discovery if it gets caught in the middle. We'll see how it ends up, but pretty much every review states how the streaming model is the primary thing that could hurt this show.
