Went to the local air show this past weekend. A few pics. The Marines run an agressor squadron made up of F5's. I was surprised how massive the Osprey's props were and then how small the interior of the craft was.
Two highlights it was the first performance of the Thunderbirds for the year, and the Tora Tora Tora performance. Eight replicas of Zeros built for the movie Tora Tora Tora back in the late sixties and used in the movie Pearl Harbor recreated the attack. It was very impressive, I'm assuming they only do it stateside so if you get a chance to see it I recommend it. |

Been a long time since I've seen an F5e. They were such a cool little plane.

I agree, the F5's were very neat planes.
Yep, it takes a lot of prop to get those birds off the ground. They actually cannot rotate the engines all the way down while on the ground. |

That interior with all those pipes and stuff makes me reminisce about modeling at Foundation Imaging!

Forgot to post the picture of the funnest part of the the air show. We weren't allowed to park within walking distance of the flightline so everyone had to be shuttled to and from the parking areas. No one planned for 60,000 people all leaving at the same time. They had only five or six shuttles that held about 40 each. Round trip for each shuttle was 15 to 20 minutes. You can do the math. I was toward the front of the line and took all most three hours to get on a shuttle.
Part of the problem was because of base construction we're due to get a large chunk of the F35's s stationed here and eventually Ospreys as well, so new hangers and all the infrastructure is being rebuilt or upgraded. |

Looks alot like MCAS Yuma when I was there with the 2nd MAW. We had the F-5E Agressor Squadron and the AV-8B's when I was there.

Very cool! I'm not familiar with the Thunderbirds. I have the Blue Angels in my neck of the woods.
