Talking Aircraft - Deaths Flower designs (return of the AG planes)

This will be a ongoing project. The thread will contain design work for 3d modeling and probably some character designs and other tidbits.

These are partially a follow up to the aircraft i was doing for the Wings of War contest here at Foundation3D and a novel outline/comic I had written a few years ago. I do not know if I will ever get to cleaning it up for print or to convert to a comic but I figured some of the designs could be fun to flesh out and create some interesting scenes with and give me some projects that AREN'T Star Trek

Most of these designs least for the novel/comic were fairly conventional craft with the exception of VTOL like abilities afforded them by the AG technology. They have over time evolved into something very much like the vanships seen in Last Exile. Hey what you like influences you doesn't it?

Either way all the stuff currently that I am posting is draft work to decide the look of things. Please do not use the WOW submission as a guide to styles, only thing that remains are the AG spikes from that project. I may or may not in the future incorporate that mesh into this "project" So without delay here is a set of profiles.

Should I lean more towards a automotive flair or more towards those 40~60s aircraft? Clothing and styles will be a Victorian flair mixed with a bit of steam punk.

I should have more later tonight. Ignore the first one its like WTFH ugly.

Great looking concept sketches! I'd love to see one of these modeled up properly.

Some of them will in time.
Here is the second set. What I need to do now is nail down the features I like and finalize the design and move to 3d.

I like the 4th one in the first set and the 3rd one in the second. They both seem to be a nice blend between conventional and futuristic.

I remember the one you built for Wings of War and it was beautiful.

Any of these designs would look good as models. It creates the impression that several companies are building these vehicles, all of them conforming to the needs of the technology and yet instilling their own personal spin on the overall look.

I think you already know what I think. I liked the WOW design and these are no exceptions for me.

Attached is a 3/4 of one of the first posted planes, rather a similar design. I hope to get to modeling some thing soon.

All really good, imo. The drawings before hand are great, a skill I just don't possess.

And here are some more!
Next are some less military like ones. Lemme know which elements on these you all like. I need to decide I think tonight which one I will model.

And yeah I should know by now NOT to use red on anything at this stage since it compresses like crap.

I'm numbering them from top left to right and then back to the left on the next row and on like reading a page.

My favs then are:

1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 14 (to the left of the green one), and 17 (under 14). They are all nice but those are my favs.

Question

Lost here, from my count 14 is the green one >_> or are you counting that brown stain thing? which isnt a concept but just me goofing off.

(note my numbers relate to the purple #s to the left of each plane) I have blocked in meshes of the red one #9 #9v2 and #6 which is basically #9 flattened out and #14 the quad AG unit. The latter #14 I dropped due to it being too close to the original submission to the WOW contest.
I dropped most of the aft wing configs since those came across too much like conventional designs. I liked #7 but it was to un vanship like in design, maybe as a foe fighter or a heavier bomber?
I was tempted by #5 and #5v2 I was just not sure if the aft wing layout would work and keep the look not to mention making the rear heavy. Attempted to pay attention to the COG and AG-unit lift COG The spikes and their placement along the hull balanced by the bulk of said hull and reactor engines. Some of the earlier designs I wasn't paying attention to this was was going with visual appeal.

I do plan to later use other designs shown in models but I will be altering the drive units since each faction/nation has differing opinions of drive tech.
