Not worried about ZBrush 4 either. From what I've seen so far it's a winner.

In related news, for those who saw the Ent Refit being used to demo LW10 and CORE, Bob was nice enough to allow Newtek to use it. Chuck passed on his thanks for that.

XD somthin kinda tells me if LW10 dosent pull anything new out its gona die. I mean look at how many script writers defected and went to Modo, and look how little the new lightwave has changed from the old.

The "defection" is really old news and Lightwave/Newtek survived it.
It will be around for some time to come.

Mayas IPR is not even close to FPrime/VPR in terms of speed and itterative feedback. If it had been, why the need to create Rendition?

Could you be more specific on what you are refering to?

When someone says "old" LightWave to me, I instantly think about pre LW9.x (LW8, 7, 6 and down back to 1).

There are plenty of third party scriptwriters releasing tools all over the place. Houdini Ocean Toolkit (not a script but very, very much the same thing as found in Houdini), litterally tons of uitilityscripts related to pipeline work etc not to mention DPKit, an insane collection of nodes to be used with both surfacing, displacements and motion.

My point here is that if you haven't used later versions of LW and taken a good deep look into it, you would not be aware of what is there and what it can do.

LW10s real handicap is the uncomfortable and clumsy combination of Layout, Modeller AND Core, something that Newtek have said is not a short term setup.

Cheers!

I just wish they woukd step up and admit that this three app arrangements is a stop gap and not some fantastically well thought through strategy.

No it's not all, you have more videos on their WEB page (who would think about that , heh ;D?)

http://tv.newtek.com/player_siggraph1.php

and you also can find plenty more videos here:
http://tv.newtek.com/library.php

just use "filter" sort by: Lightwave/Submit to get Lw videos listed only.

I'm looking forward to a familiar, yet less redundant toolset/UI. I also want to see if they're going to focus more on the game development industry, or let AD keep their dominance in that area. Won't be buying into LW10 anytime soon (so I'll be paying the higher price for the upgrade), but I'm rooting for NT...as I like the way they do business, far more than AD (although I may have to buckle someday and get a copy of Max...I'll do it grudgingly ).

I'm not going to jump to conclusion just yet, I haven't touched LW for quite some time and really looking forward to play with LW10 demo.

I think that Newtek will manage to cover the gap after all
