Default Mandelbulb?!?!

See the gallery in the link

http://www.skytopia.com/project/fractal/gallery/

Very organic looking!

Some of these are just staggering - looks like the best shot yet at a properly 3d fractal. Now, if I can work out how to make them myself...

Currently working through the background info here:
http://www.skytopia.com/project/fractal/mandelbulb.html

I found this if you haven't seen it already:
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=downloads

edit: although it doesn't seem like it's able to export 3d objects

Found a freebie prog called mandlebulber, not all these images are mandlebulbs, but they are fun!

hmmmm.... looks like most of these programs can export image stacks: http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelb...3ab4431ab6272e

...which can then be turned into 3d objects

I'm in the process of trying this out using ImageJ, not quite as trivial as it sounds

Actually, I take it back.. it is exactly as trivial as it sounds, it just happens to be really slow

And now I just need to figure out how to convert a point cloud into something more useful

I'm sure I've seen something that will do that... I'll have a think.

Alternatively, just apply HV's to the points in Lightwave!

I found it - Accutrans 3d can handle many point clouds:
See:
http://www.micromouse.ca/xyz_files.html

Maybe a mod could move this over to the WIP area?

I get the impression this stuff is relatively new, and if anyone else wants to join in feel free, it seems there's a fair bit of software, though some is basic.

Yes - I've been too busy doing the easy stuff with the first prog I downloaded to get stuck into all the options let alone other software!

I'm hoping that someone will knock up a decent exporter so we can use this stuff in other 3D programs.

One more, this time fancier settings on the hypervoxels...

And a desaturated version:

lots and lots of patience

It *sounds* simple, export a voxel-stack from mandelbulb3d, import the stack into imagej, export as an obj, import into lightwave, and apply hypervoxels

Not all are Mandelbulbs, but they are from the Mandelbulber. I always love a good Seirpinski gasket...

Not mine, and a shame it's not higher definition, but this is pretty jaw dropping none the less:

Or this mandelbox

At last an HD one!

Or two

It really is time to hunt down and get stuck into the animation software for this stuff!

I just kind of wandered into this thread, but I wanted to let you know that I've created a video tutorial that shows how to use the Voxel Stacks feature in Mandelbulb 3D to create 3D mesh objects. I also have some other tutorials that cover the basic features of M3D that could give you a head start if you are interested in exploring these shapes.

Examples of some of the 3D shapes I've created with this method:
