Some old work, I decided to colour up. Only a small tiny portion of it too hah, just wanted a icon image for something and well ended up painting this over using an existing image. >_< hahaha matching the old colour work was a bit of a pain and is not 100% either, including a full image of the banner. I had posted a old version of it I think in this thread some time in the past. damned old stuff lol

Annoyed the hell out of the neighbors with gorillaz music while I doodled. Was tempted to do something related but ended up with this. That "monkey's head" song though tempts still lol.

But no got a loli vampire touhou so uncreative! lawl.


Oh yeah uploading 2 images, not sure if the forum will do like DA did but the one with grain got all fuzzy. Maybe it is my files?? lol Doesn't look fuzzy in the app.

Another with the same set of characters. This is a rough doodle with cheap painting tossed on to see how the comp would look. A bit disappointed, out of practice in that regard.

Ok taking a break and decided to finish this. Cannot decide if I want to paint it or just ink and colour it. IE lines or no lines etc, or some mix. The colour image has a desaturated BG so you can see whats going on. There are details missing or left off in the line work. Such as the girl's (Remilia) skirt/dress will have more ruffles and stuff filling the outer skirt. Both of them are missing a lot of trimming and crap, just felt it pointless to add it if I go with a painted look.

Still debating lines or no but spent most of the day fussing with things and really finding how rusty I am exp with shadowing in paint. (some serious flaw in my flow) Images are with lines and without. The other image shows close er detail and flaws. Most of it is all still rough. Remi's nose is all WTF.

I need to work out a lot of that heavy core crap out that is in the image now. Not to happy with it atm. I pretty much have to go in and redo all the faces to even things out and work in a fill light tone vs the "samelight" everywhere thing. Still in the habit of working digital paint like it is the real thing. Just does not work. UGH.

With the lines is certainly in keeping with anime style. However, I think if you can define everything with your colour, tones and shades you would have a much better piece overall.

This peach pink is my new HATE color, well besides blue. Just cannot get the shadow right. HAH. To think drawing and crap was a relaxing thing now it is FFFFFFfffff rage. Sometimes I wonder why I do it. looking at this image it dawns on me her eyes are all naff. sigh.

It is just thins pink, or maybe it is me just being a git. I did a more bluish pink and not had issues lol.

Dunno hah. probably just me.

Anyhow here is where it sits after some household distractions. I think I might do a more frequent update for possible future use.

some updates from last night and today, mostly the maids dress moved bits around since I deemed the dress was too short. Probably still is. eh.

That looks very good. I think the skirt length is okay. Not for a realistic, proper maid's outfit, but for an anime spin on the sexy French maid it's fine.

It isnt anything to do with french maid or any western ideals, just how the character is and influence on modern Japanese maid culture (yes, there is such a thing)
Sakuya's dress comes and goes depending on the artist and what is popular at the moment. Even the design fluctuates.

HAH I done it again, moved on to something else. Not too far from what I was doing though PFFFT It is the bent sister of Remilia.

I think I have a copy of terragen someplace or some terrain app I am really tempted to use it to create some "gensokyo" environments (Gensokyo is the pocket world all these youkai and other goofballs live in) Then I could overpaint the renders as backdrops. I really suck at landscape to begin with, well I suck at painting period so it might help me develop some skills? hah O_o;'

Anyhow I have to install and muck about to find out if that would be of any help to me. The new painting though, is all rough and loosely blocked in. Might be a huge mistake I added in the clocktower and bits of roof and turret from the Scarlet Devil Mansion. (really need to look at some existing art of it or of large stone mansions. . . to at least get an idea of what lies under the stone etc.
thing varies greatly depending on artist. I am using small segments so I can get away with more.

Added a few "extras" and refined linework.

Anyhow added some "danmaku" to see how it would work with the image. Plans are to do a more complex patter of smaller stuff behind. Aligning it to the image is a PITA though heh concern IO have is if it blends well with the image. A lot of other images I seen where they used generated danmaku were a bit clashy. EH cannot think of a word but it was really obvious it was cgi over a image. I did mine in max since I figured it was easiest.


Forgot to link this video it shows flandre's level you'll have to skip in to see her and her patterns. They start off simple and compound over time. Simple by today's standards though. This was some 6 games back?
