Ugh! Man you guys are killing me! Seriously, this *exactly* the kind of C&C I was hoping for. I wish I was faster at ZBrush so it didn't take so damn long to do some of this stuff.
@rigel, actually I was mentioning the snake as a form that was *not* very threatening, at least to an adult. |

I think it could be worth exploring the amphibian or even cephalopod influences - insects and lizard men have been done a lot, too much...
I don't mean tentacles (too clichéd) but I'm thinking of building on the soft tube thingies. |

So I got a little more done on this - enough to post something anyways.
Redid the detailing, going to pitch the external rib cage thingy, which bums me out, but I can see the sense in it. Anyhow, I had some alternate ideas for the legs/thighs last night as I was trying to fall asleep. Might be worth it to try those out. Nick, re the amphibian or even cephalopod influences - any specific ideas on this? I found a link on wikipeidia about cephalopods, and the pic there was kind of cool, but the tentacles would make it look like too much like Cthulhu. |

Couple of updates to the creature - I think this replaces all the old detailing. Might start painting at this point.

Awesome work! Reminds me of Aliens with a little bit of District 9 in the mix. I love the corridor shots (especially the gamma adjusted one) and would like to see another render like that after you finish the modeling and the painting.
Very cool! JMoney |

Really well done. I see influence from several sources but it's all integrated well, imo.

Thanks guys. Here's the last bit, redid the feet. Gag, kind of sick of sculpting all this detail, but on the other hand I sort of know how to do bio-mechanoid detailing!

Well, its the attention to detail that makes the difference between a good and a great model - and this looks great to me!

That looks really good in the turntable.
Will the front of the "head" split open into flaps like some kind of mouth? |

Thanks guys!
@rigel: yes, that's the plan. I'm stuck with a rigging problem at the moment (some sort of stupid weighting issue), so nothing to show yet. Once that works, then I'll come up with some cool innards - some sort of bio-mechnical brain or something like that was the idea I had. |

Love that middle render!
Will definitely be interesting to see the head split open, especially in an animation. I'm picturing tiny little teeth on each flap with some little tentacles in the middle or something, then again maybe I'm just thinking of something I saw in Resident Evil! JMoney |
