Very nice.

One thing you'll want to start practising is getting rid of the sharp edges on your models. In the case of the hospital ship, side pods look very sharp. A pod with more of a shape similar to the main hull would fit better in the overall design. To reduce the sharpness on the edges of the box, there are a few ways to do that. The simplest is to use Bevel and just bevel the edges. On a ship that size, I'd go with a bevel up to 1 cm (1/2 inch). That way, the box has an angle on the edge that will pick up highlights and make it less sharp.

Thanks. The pods were beveled, but not all the way.And I kept the shape like this for practical reasons of the design.
In the pods you will need space for medical shuttles, cargo areas, storage areas for various rescue equipment.
For the beveling you are right, I'll have to get rid off the sharp edges.

Overall it's a nice design.

I would suggest much smaller gaps between the hull plates.

I absolutely love the backgrounds - but they do rather distract from the ships.

How about some ortho views?

No offence Andrew but let me ask you a question: Do you consider yourself that good modeler that I'm trying to get a reaction.
From this phrase I understand that my designs are nothing comparing to yours.
I like my designs simple, sometimes simple things are much more efficient.
I design my concepts directly how I think they should looke.
Maybe my designs are blocky, but I worked a lot from my first project until today.
My ships are designed to be practical and rapid to build.A ships with a lot of details will take more then 2 years to build.

Meugen, generally speaking the people that post thier work on these boards are looking for critique in order to improve themselves or otherwise are looking for general feedback on a particular artwork.

You don't seem to fall in to either of those categories, since you ignore advice on how to improve your work and in all fairness you really can't call your images art can you?

Now if you're content to carry on posting your images and get no feedback from the board members that's fine but you have to ask this question of yourself, what are you trying to get out of your work?

Do you want to improve, do you want people to say 'OMG, that's excellent', do you one day want to make some money of this hobby or at the very least become a respected hobbyist?

If the answer to those questions is yes then heed the advice given, we give it freely, we are here to help you with your designs and to help you in producing art that you can be proud of.

Many of the artists here will gladly help you at no cost, giving up thier free time, surely that is a treasure worth taking advantage of rather than having your images all but ignored.

Many of the modellers here produce massively complex models in very short order, yes, some do take a great deal of time but I believe the term quality instead of quantity is the goal.

One other thing of note is that you do not post any comments on others work, hence my comment about you yanking our chains, get involved, post comments on others work, ask how they have acheived the look of a model piece of art.

I leave it up to you as to how you proceed.

You're getting better.

But you really need to lighten up the textures so the models are easier to see. Like the ship in your avatar image.

this looks a lot better, but for the love of god sort out the backdrop, and the lighting, look at some blender tutorials, you an improve your designs no end and really start too produce great models.

Maybe my designs are blocky, but I worked a lot from my first project until today.
My ships are designed to be practical and rapid to build.A ships with a lot of details will take more then 2 years to build.
here are a few tips, and critique, dont take these words to heart i mean them in the kindest way, firstly nothing in the real world will ever look that blocky, for one it isnt possible, nothing has a razor sharp edge, dont take this the wrong way but you could improve by beveling the edges slightly and maybe slowly move away from using block primitives, afterall they dont carry much design merit with them.

secondly, i have seen you posting from when you started posting on Calling All Stargate Fans which later got renamed Lightspeed-Art, and while you have improved, you are still making blocky stuff that doesnt look real, i understand that they are your designs, but they would not look like that in the real world, you are still making the gaps between plateing way too big, dont take this the wrong way, afterall, we all modelled like this at one time but listening to others helped us improve and aspire to the modellers we are today.

and third, the ammount of time you spend doing these models, with the right skills you could easily knock out a high detailed ship in a month, and im sure it would turn heads, it doesnt take as long as you would think.

my advice, look up some blender tutorials on how to improve your modeling skills, loose the backdrop, while nice it is, it doesnt suit the models, i dont mean any of this in a harsh way i just think eveyone needs to improve, and so im giving you the critique you need.

and if you must know i dont consider myself to be supirior, or a better modeller, im just giving you advice, when i got given advice i took it, and it made me the modeller i am today.

An easy rule of thumb: You can have the greatest looking model ever built, but if your lighting is off, it's not going to compliment the model. You can have a pretty poor-looking model, but if the lighting is just right, it can look like a million bucks.

You're headed in the right direction, but your lighting methodology for this render needs a complete revision. Your background should be the reference for the lighting. It isn't. Yet. Match your lighting to the background and you can take this to the next level.

As far as time spent modeling, that will improve with practice. During my first two years of modeling, my speed doubled every two months until I reached a point that what used to take me a week to model, took four hours. It's all about problem-solving. As you develop techniques, you spend more time building and less time figuring out how to build. It's called entering "The Groove." Once you're in it, time stands still, your appetite is supressed, bathroom breaks are major annoyances and all you care about is finishing what you've started.
