Default Weapons - holo-weapons

I'm trying to make holographic weapons for my characters and i was wondering how to make the holographic part turn on and off. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

I'm not at all clear on what you are trying to do here...

What do you mean by a holographic weapon part?

More information would be useful to answer the question. I see from your profile you use After Effects, the way I would make a hologram would be to render it out separate from the scene and composite it together in AE. This way you can add effects to the hologram and have greater control of the look and feel of it in the scene.

If you are doing it in Lightwave, object / properties / disolve %ge.

This will let you fade it in and out.

You're definitely going to want illumination modulated by incidence falloff, like an x-ray effect. 100% transparent, 0% diffuse. Probably a little glow would be good, but easy enough to add in post. You can keyframe the gradient or the illumation amount, either way would work.
