UPDATE...
I think the main light and guide wires are just about done. I just want to add maybe one more detail to it. Than I can get started on the support structures.

UPDATE...
This is the final look of the lamp. Donít really see a need for more details since the polygons are getting a little out of hand.

The final light is in place and Iíve begun to work on an idea of how to connect the structure to the spine.

Now Iím getting an idea of how this will look.

Some nice detail work on the dock.

The ridges in the light covers look too large for the scale of the dock. It gives the impression that the dock is a model using car headlights.

They are car headlights actually.

UPDATE...
As usuall for me I either add too many polies or not enough. This time not enough. Iím thinking I may just start over and thatís a shame because alot of work went into this part. Or I might be able to work with what I have.

What the bottom looks like.

This is the basic concept for what it will look like inside.

The ribs are finally in place.

Starting on the cross beams. This went faster then I thought it would

How it currently looks. There are a few parts that donít need to be there anymore.

UPDATE...
I wasnít sure if I was gonna do this upper room with just textures or build it out. I decided to do a very simple build out and not much more. I need to finish this part before I can move on to the rest.

UPDATE...
Started to work on an idea for textures on the landing bay doors. I also wanted to play around abit with unwrapping somemore.

The first two corner landing bays are pretty much done

For the bottom landing bay I had to take the inside and flip it over. Getting it to mach up wasnít that easy.

UPDATE...
Man. Getting the ribs and cross beams to look welded together is making this a pain in the ass. Itís just doing the same thing over and over again. But atleast I only have to do a quarter of it. Iím thinking about extending the lamps on the side to fill up some of that empty space, something I never liked about the Jackill design. I thinking about adding some construction arms to this thing. The Kelvin was added to to have a ship in it.

UPDATE...
Iíve been wanting to do my own version of this ship for some time now so I decided might as well do it now. Right now it just very roughly blocked in to see all the shapes. Iím not to sure about the size but it looks like a small ship to me and an old one so I can have all kinds of fun getting this one dirty.
You can see the original ship at http://steveneill.wordpress.com/

UPDATE...
I tend to start out sometimes with the warp engine and this is no different. The first thing I did was shorten the engine because I thought the blocked in shape felt to long and I gave it a bit of a taper. I then got to work on the end cap and I think I am done it. Canít see it needing any other detail. I did make one mistake with some bevels that turned out smaller than I thought and they donít really show. Must be the heat.

Here is the front of the warp engine. I added some details to the hydrogen collector and Iím happy with how they turned out.

UPDATE...
Iíve added rcs thrusters and all the other bits that go on the back of the engine.

Iíd say the detail of the back of the engine is done.

Here is the fin-thingy things in the front of the ship. So far I like the way these have turned out.

This version of the fins isnít finishes because Iím not sure about it yet. I like the first version better.

Well I think Iíve decided on a scale for this ship and it comes in at around 230 meters long.

UPDATE...
The engines are finished and I rebuilt the secondary hull. I couldnít figure out how the shuttle bay doors would open on Mr. Neillís original so I did something I could work with. Iím still thinking about if Iíll build the inside of it. I added my standard and tactical shuttles just to see how they would look with it. Because of the small size of this ship it will probably only carry two standard shuttles.

A little closer to show some of the engine detail.

A closer look at the shuttle bay. Thereís still some segmmenting but not as bad as the first version of the secondary hull.

UPDATE...
With the back mostly done I started on the spine.

Hereís a close look at the back. The segmenting shows kind of bad but I think I can live with it for now. I just want to maybe fix a few things I donít like 100%.

UPDATE...
Ok. I think I broke the back of this thing. The saucer was the one thing I was concerned about the most but now that Iíve cracked it I feel pretty good about finishing this ship. I have yet to do the upper and lower sensor domes but those will be next.

UPDATE...
Hereís a nice shot of the details for the backend. Iím now thinking I will build an interior to the shuttle bay. Done in Mental Ray.

Iím starting to get the windows in the secondary hull. If it wasnít for the damn heat I probably could have gotten more done before the end of the month.

Just a few scale shots with my Archer and D7.

Oh yeah I finally got a chance to sit back and listen to the new Rush CD Clockwork Angels. Fan freakín tastic.

UPDATE...
Iíve started to make the textures for the Romulan version of the Klingon D7. Iíve decided to make it less dirty and I might repaint the grime. The Romulan text on the ship says ďstolen shipĒ on it. Halfway down the neck the color will start to fade into a blue color. Right now Iím considering this more like a proof of concept instead of the final look but that could change. I may decide to unwrap the whip and paint all new textures for it.

I didn't. It's just a texture of a headlight.

If it's just a temp, then don't worry about it, but it looks like you've got some smoothing problems around torp launcher in the bulb.

UPDATE...
Well. Iím moving rather fast on this. You can see where the ship starts to fade to blue. I like the way things are turning out right now so this could end up being the final version when Iím done.
