I really like the idea going on here so I figured I'd join in
![]() Currently working on a cruiser/battleship size beastie. This one is about 500 meters and packs many smaller weapons and one large size cannon (no sure what kind yet). You can see the hangar bay near the top. |

Redid the hangar bay. I didn't like the first one, too boring. Also finished blocking out the main structures and now I've entered the detailing phase. Nurnies and greebles!

More nurnies and greebles. Added hull plating. One of the annoying things about asymmetrical designs is that you actually have to model everything. No mirroring.

Took a break from paneling the interior hull sections to work on the shell. I had originally thought to use a more organic texturing on the the outside but decided that I liked the paneled/armored look. I may or may not keep the glowing bits inside the panels but I like the way they work right now. What do you think?

Thanks guys.
These panels are actually pretty easy and straight forward. As you can see from the attached screen shot they panels follow the flow of the polygons. By using the existing polygon structure I just selected a group of polygons. Used multishift to inset the polys (in my case it was 0.5 m) with a new surface given to the inset. Used Smooth Shift to extrude the polys. (in this case it was 2 m). Then I used multishift to inset another 0.5 m but also shift 0.5 m (this time no new surface was assigned so the original surface was maintained). I hope this is what you are looking for. |

Been working on the detailing, so not much to show in that department, but I have also begun the texturing process. Early stages of the shell texture. I have dirt and color down, now it needs spec and possibly something else. I'm still very new to texturing.

Got about as far as I could in the time allotted. Didn't have time to finish the textures, but I did get all the modeling done that I wanted. Maybe I'll go back and finish the textures at a later time.
