Default Vehicles - I'm Batman

Okay, so I'm not Batman. But for just a few minutes this afternoon one of my childhood dreams came true.

I ran into a fellow citizen of London, ON who now owns one of the beautiful Batmobile replicas from Fiberglass Freaks. He was sitting in a parking lot with his son, talking to another fan. I pulled in and jumped out with the camera. As I was photographing it, he said the magic words:

"Would you like to sit in it?"

It's the little things in life that put a silly grin on a middle-aged man's face.

----------------

"Everyone who sees the car is instantly transformed into a kid, it makes people happy and I enjoy seeing that.”

-- Andrew Murray, owner

In the family photo on the business card, he looks quite happy, dressed up as Robin. I think he was just shy about the fuss and attention. After all, he's not old enough to understand what it means to come into contact with a cultural icon, he just knows that adults act funny around daddy's car.

Very cool Rigel!
I've got a buddy who has the most accurate Herbie replica in Canada if not North America.*People are constantly taking pictures. He's got the wipers, horn and lights on remote as well as a 'pee' tank behind the back tire. A couple weeks ago he got married at a local winery and there were a couple buses of Korean tourists who were taking pictures in front of his car prior to the ceremony (of which Herbie was a part).

Photos man, we need photos!

Actually, he was wearing his seat belt the whole time. The car, being a replica of a 1950's automobile (which had no seatbelts) which was remodelled in the 1960's, has no shoulder belt.

*Update* The owner e-mailed me and said he's busy this week, but will e-mail me as soon as he can and take me for a ride in it. It will be very interesting to see how this monster rides. Not to mention way fun to sit behind the roar of the V8 under its hood. Just idling while I was there it was quite the sound.

Holy priceless collection of Etruscan snoods! (As Robin once said).

As the proud owner of an Official bat Book signed by Adam West, i find it difficult to say just how cool that is!

Nice pair of bugs! And Herbie looks good in paper carnations.

I have wanted to model this thing many times, but those compound curves going several directions all at once scare the heck out of me, so I've never tried it.

The Canon Powershot will be on-board with me. Oh, I should take my RC plane wing cam with me, it shoots in 720p. That would make a nice driving video.

That's a mid 1950's automobile size for you! And yes, I would still buy one in a heart beat.

Backing it up would be a beast of a job. It has one small rear-view mirror clipped to the top of the windshield frame and there is a lot of back end that you can't see.
