Default Movie & TV Related - Aliens Hallway

I've wanted to do the Aliens LV-426 hallway for sometime. Thanks to floor tile provided by Wiz (thanks!) I built the hallway in LightWave after running through the footage in Aliens and taking snapshots. Like Wiz said, the set guys cobbled a whole bunch of stuff into the hallway and it's pretty random from shot to shot.

I need some eyes on this to improve the textures and feel of the image to make it more dramatic. Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated.

The figures are from Poser and re-textured after importing them into LightWave. It would be nice if the texture nodes could be standardized. It takes a lot of trial and error to reconstruct Poser nodes in the LightWave node editor.

David

You may do better uploading your image. Some people don't like following links, especially from people with only a few posts.

One piece of advice I can give you when importing Poser object into Lightwave is the Blending Mode.

On each surface of the poser model, The Blending Mode is at the top of the texture editor window. I’m at work so I’m not sure what Poser sets it to by default (Multiply I think), but it makes the textures and colors from the poser model look washed out. Set the Blending Mode to “Normal” and you’ll see a big difference.

Nice image by the way, a little too dark all around, but it's got lots of nightmarish proimise!

It's really dark, I can't make out much.

Its coming along and I didn't recognise my floor tile lol...

OK using the below as a rough ref:

Having the camera low frames the characters better and right now you have it low but try giving it a little tilt so the view is looking up at the foreground character and have her more in view (see below image for another rough example). Add a background light which will help pick out the shape of the characters and you also want the hero character to stand out more than the alien; the alien could almost be a silhouette, a scary shape in the background that the viewer fills in

Well hope this makes sense, and helps

Keep going!

Wiz.

What I can see looks good, but, it still looks very dark to me.

One thing that strikes me is I don't get any sense that teh alien is about to attack, it looks more like they're together

Well, be fair - the composition is pretty good, and getting steadily better. The hair is a lot better that most of the poser hair I have seen too.

The only bit that really bugs me is the unnatural looking bend in the aliens wrist...

I've added some details, fixed some obvious Poser mesh issues, and blended the images. Andrew was right. The hair wasn't cutting it. So, changed the hair and postworked the issues I saw.

Starbase1 - I'll fix that wrist for you. The Alien from Forender has some really weird bones that are hard to control and hadn't really noticed it.

Again, thanks for the feedback. I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's images. There are some really good artists here.

Cool, now take it into PS and add some contrast, create darker tones and add noise, with some coloured lighting, perhaps highlight the Alien in a soft blue light whilst using red for the girl
