Default LightWave - Nodes that affect a set of surfaces?

Is there any way to make nodes or parameters or something like that have an effect across multiple surfaces?

I'm often seem to have surfaces that form a set, for example they might have the same background, but different logos on them. In my current case, I want the luminosity to change in step, and this would be a lot easier if I only had to adjust it in one place.

It's generally a simple value rather than anything too complex...

Maybe you could treat those areas as one surface (on a UV map), apply the luminosity changes to that map and add it to each surface? Then the individual surfaces would still have different colour maps for the logos.

I don't think that's an option in this case, (it would be messier than my current lots of independent surfaces).

I suspect it's not possible, but wanted to run it by everyone, in the hope I'm wrong.

It can be done physically with channel follower can't it? Move a null from 0 to 1m, and have than translate into a parameter you can use in any channel you like. I did it recently to control lots of lights at once, but it would work for surfaces wouldn't it?

truearts global materials, it allows you to create a single node that has all nodes with it allowing cross connection

unfortunately not free, but opens a lot of workflow improvements
