Hi folks, once again demonstrating that I am an impulse buying gadgetaholic extraodinaire I have treated myself to an X-keys Professional keyboard.
Anyhoo, now the thing has arrived I find myself struggling to decide how to set up a layout for the keys. I want to set it up for use with both Lightwave Modeler and Layout, and to minimize use of the main PC keyboard. I was wondering if any of you could advise me of the best way to prioritise the Lightwave toolset for use on a keypad like this. I was also wondering if any of you have one of these things and how much use you get out of it, I guess I'm wondering if I have I wasted my money. Cheers Tony. |

It looks like it would be a handy thing to have, but, I find the price tag a bit excessive for what is essentially just a keyboard. I recently bought a new Logitech keyboard (the 10 year old finally quit working) for $15, software included.
Aside from that, I find the idea of having a bank of programmable keys very appealing. I often find myself wishing I could assign hotkeys to Lightwave tools, but I'm running out of keys on my keyboard! Keep us posted on how well it works. |

do a typical modelling session, and take note of the tools you use, then prioritise them based on your work flow - is what I'd do.

That keyboard looks interesting. Can't afford it now, but might have to look at it for the future.
I have a Microsoft keyboard with several programmable buttons so I just hit a button to start LW, Vue, Firefox, etc. So with this keyboard instead of using hotkeys, you assign Bevel to a key, SmoothShift to a key, etc.? Can you have 58 assigned keys in several programs? Or do you have to divide up the keys among all the software you use? |
