Well I've spent several days now working with CG fluids. OMG what a PITA. Didn't they master that 20 years ago in The Abyss? I'm pretty sure every 3D package should have a "water" button right next to the torus tool by now. No more fluids for me, gawd.

Here's a nebula instead;

Pretty! But at that resolution I shudder to think how long it would have taken LightWave's particle system to render the nebula... or did you use something else?

Na it's just a sample image from Star Trek II, and I paint over it in Photoshop to clean it up at a higher resolution.

Love the nebula image. That's my favourite one yet. Really beautiful.

That's a nice shot Pro.

Like Crook, I too am wondering what you were trying to do with fluids?

He's built this with so much detail he has to render out Kirk's cup of coffee on the bridge.....

If you built a studio with lights around it and a blue screen I'd swear it was the original model!

I was just playing with liquids because I like to play with things, I had a scene in mind but I more than lost interest in it.

That was actually the first thing I was going to do but that turned out to be a lot of work.

This sort of inadvertantly turned into one of the opening shots. I did the planet fairly quick and it shows;

I need to work on a new starfield, I've gotten tired of all my old ones.

Now that's the ol' girl, there is nothing better then the original! Beautiful render Prologic.

Hrm. Shouldn't the pink light from the planet only show on the underside of the saucer and the port edges facing the planet? Maybe it's just me but somehow it doesn't look right that the entire ship (including the starboard side) would be bathed in pink light.

Superb. Nothing beats the classic lines of the original ship. All the redesigns aside I think this and the TMP ship are clear winners of all of them.

The TOS and ST-TMP Enterprise have always been my favorites... You bring back that feeling of being a kid again.

I know this is an old topic, but I just wanted to thank you, Prologic9, for your great models like this. Just discovered this site and did a test render with your model in Cinema4D. I haven't fixed all textures yet, but the conversion from Lightwave is phenomenal.

Great pic in post #44! It wonderfully captures the charm of the old series and almost looks like a physical model. I wish they had used something like this for the remastered scenes of the Bluray sets.

Wow... I'm sorry for this bump/necropost, but I don't check in too often, and just saw this thread...

These renders are beyond amazing... I love the lighting you use! And your 1701 model is just fantastic!

One small request... could you please repost the asteroid image again? I clicked on the thumbnail, and I got an error message. I'd really like to see that image full-size.

Again, just awesome work!
