Wow, mate. You did all this in Blender? I must say, I'm impressed. I tried to use blender a couple years back, hardly got past the basics before the interface had me wanting to jump off a cliff. Very nicely done, I can see your progress, something to be proud of. Have you submitted any of your ships to epic encounter?

I think you would benefit greatly from a post production product like photoshop or something similar. I took your last image and did a little tweaking. I'm not an expert by any stretch and I did this in like five minutes. At least now it seems your ship is the center of focus for the scene... Anyways, I think this would help your scenes out so they're not so... drab and look like a ship was just pasted on a background.

This has been mentioned before in this thread, but I think you'd benefit from spending a bit more time on each of these. You clearly have some areas that are made out of fairly sophisticated shapes, and yet others are made out of simple primitives like squashed cylinders, cubes, etc..

I'd suggest picking one of these and go through and delete everything that's recognizable as a simple geometric shape and build in the missing pieces out of custom sculpted geometry. THEN go to detailing, texturing, and rendering.

Just my $0.02

The texturing is improving, man. These latest images look a bit more real. What renderer are you using? Have you messed with Global Illumination yet? That's a lot of fun and adds a lot of realism or different effects.
That's great that you have such a passion for this stuff!

Edit: And I like the Olympus class destroyer

I'm using the render function on the Blender 2.49. I still need to improve on lights setting.

Nice work man, you are putting out a lot of stuff quickly!

I'm going to echo the comments on the lighting.

My reccomendations:
Use a three point lighting rig, (You can google that pretty easily)

Color the key and fill lights to match the background. (Light options has the color sliders)

Add a slight ambient occlusion, again match to background. Default settings will make it over bright, turn it down a little. (Make certain ray-tracing is turned on for this).

That should help quite a bit with the scene lighting. After that, it's all composition, which is really the fun part I think.

Keep it up! It's a wonderful past time.

Very nice.

One thing you'll want to start practising is getting rid of the sharp edges on your models. In the case of the hospital ship, side pods look very sharp. A pod with more of a shape similar to the main hull would fit better in the overall design. To reduce the sharpness on the edges of the box, there are a few ways to do that. The simplest is to use Bevel and just bevel the edges. On a ship that size, I'd go with a bevel up to 1 cm (1/2 inch). That way, the box has an angle on the edge that will pick up highlights and make it less sharp.

Thanks. The pods were beveled, but not all the way.And I kept the shape like this for practical reasons of the design.
In the pods you will need space for medical shuttles, cargo areas, storage areas for various rescue equipment.
For the beveling you are right, I'll have to get rid off the sharp edges.

Overall it's a nice design.

I would suggest much smaller gaps between the hull plates.
