Default LightWave - Rocket Launch

Hi all,

Rocket launches!, i am looking for something to replicate a rocket launch of a space shuttle. Preferably in Turbulence-FD and have got the trial version to see if i can get the right effect, because i don't think hypervoxels are going to achieve the fidelity.

Does anyone know a good tutorial or scene file to pick open and have a look at?

thanks all!

I would consider what the camera will be doing during the launch. If you're planning to introduce shaking, zooming, and tracking around the shuttle while it's airborne, then using LW's particle system or TFD is necessary. [I suspect you can get satisfactory results with LW hypervoxels, but you will need to run a ton of test renders to get things looking just right--all the while tweaking the interaction, fade, size, and lifespan parameters. I've used both methods, and I find each one maddening to finesse.]

However, if you're pursuing a traditional wide panning shot (like televised take-offs), then it's very easy to get convincing effects using stock elements, like this:

...in which case your project burden changes to compositing and maybe some optical VFX.

Let us see when it's finished
