Thanks.

UPDATE...
Just about done with the details for the front of the ship. I’ve also begun to sensors to the side of the ship.

I got a little bored working on the Sagan so I decided to add a few plates to the wing of the BOH.

UPDATE...
Work is going pretty slow on this thing but anyway. I added more stuff to the back of the ship.

A little bit of work done to the front of the ship including the torpedo launchers.

And a possible idea for a new Borg ship.

The curved section around the torpedo launcher is showing some smoothing errors. Try this for an easy fix:

Select all of the polygons on the top of the panel.

Use Multi-Shift to inset them about 1cm (half an inch). Make sure the Inset option is Contour or Contour 2.

I use Max I don't think I have those options. But I'll see what I can do.

Rob, its a long time since the last time (years) I oppened 3DSMax (I own version 9 sp2) but, if my memory serves, there is a button under the object properties (editable polly mode) that allows you to do something similar as pointed by Rigel.

max has a inset poly as a editing option but I do not think that will solve the issues of not enough topology to support the interface without the errors. It might though as I do not have the object in front of me. There is no curvature as max just averages the inset based off of the existing surface angles. Max is kinda stupid this way they keep adding garbage to the app and never adding useable editing features.

My best suggestion is to cut some loops around the hole for the torp to give those hidden edges somewhere less acute to go. As right now they are so narrow and so vertical they cannot smooth right. Some times a horz cut is all that is needed as well.

here is a example of some hidden edges being a bit to accute to the existing edges. Here with 2013 it sucks arse as the hidden edges are no longer dashed lines but solid ones so I had to select all edges so they appear red. on the far outer edges of that cut you can see those white edges are really crammed together. if this cyl was larger, meaning that the curvature was shallower those would cause errors. so I would have to shorten that polygon in some way to get those hidden edges at a more 45deg angle in relation to the rest of the edges.
#1 shows those tight hidden edges.
#2 shows a error (max will turn these sometimes for I dunno what reason from just SAVING) So I have to return that to go the other way as it will cause a smoothing error.
Dunno how much this relates to other apps though.

To see these and edit these edges the option is under edit edges in editable poly mode. Click turn and click on the edge to retri it. It can be done in edge or poly mode.

Liking the model, your post TNG work has a real Sternbach feel to it.

All I did was add a few cuts and it appears to have fixed the problem.

UPDATE...
Howdy folks. I’ve added more details. And chamfered a few edges that I forgot about.

I see a few errors going on here but I already fixed them.

I did a bit more to the Borg ship.

Very nice! Yes, the area around the torp tubes looks much smoother now.

The rim detail is just about done and I added a few other bits near the lifeboats.

I’m also thinking about doing a version of this runabout.

I agree! Looks great! And yes, by all means, I'd love to see your take on that Runabout design.

I think that was one of the concepts for the Danube-class. I love Runabouts. If I could have one ship from the Star Trek universe, it would be a Danube-class Runabout. I wouldn't even have to think.

UPDATE...
A little bit more added to the bottom and side of the engine.

This is the current placement of the engine.

But I was thinking I might move it a bit to here. Not sure if I like it.

I also decided to add something to the bottom of the sphere.
