IMO, but the best milk chocolate in the US is Nestle's Milk Chocolate. Hershey's is crap.

Ghirardelli and See's are pretty good though.

Blimey, never thought this would start a whole conversation on the pros and cons of US chocolate. It's not the easiest thing to get hold of here in the UK, but our teenage daughter absolutely loves Reece's Pieces. Here in York there is the huge Nestlé factory and when you drive past, depending what time of day it is, you can tell what type of chocolate bar they are making at the time!

Apologies for not posting any updates on here lately. I have had zero time or opportunity to update the alley. It's very frustrating as I'm desperate to get back to it!
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Default Wrigleyville : Cadbury Apartments Balcony

Finally managed to find some time to fire up Lightwave and work some more on the alley. I really missed it!
Done the apartment doors on the balcony, added some Frank Lloyd Wright aztec tiles from his Ennis Brown House to give it a Blade Runneresque flavour and a few more minor bits and bobs. Next up is the area above the balcony.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to doing the area above the balcony now, lots more ducting and greeblies!

Default Wrigleyville : Cadbury Apartments

Finally managed to get the area above the balcony built. I'm pretty happy with it. On the original miniature we used some landing leg modules from the Space 1999 Eagle model kit for the air conditioning units, so for this version I've done the same. It's very handy that Lightwave ships with an Eagle model!
Next up is the signage on this area of wall. Just keep layering on the detail!

That is really awesome.

One thing that bothers me though are the Eagle air conditioners. They look soft and blobby compared to the rest of it. Perhaps the smoothing angle is too high for those pieces. If it's the piece from the Eagle that comes with Lightwave then perhaps it's too low poly for the smoothing angle. You might be further ahead to just remodel that piece.

Thanks! Good point about the Eagle air conditioners. You're right, they do look too blobby... I shall fix that. I can't see me doing an entire remodel on them but I will sort it.

Default Wrigleyville : Background Buildings

Started this up again!
I've started the background building, loosely built from some plans of the Warner Brothers backlot set from Blade Runner and extended somewhat. I actually built this a long while ago fully intending to replicate the Blade Runner set... it never happened, but at least the building has come in useful. This will be plastered with lit signage and graphics intended to backlight the alley, along with lots of ducting, vents etc.

I'd forgotten this project. Great to see you getting back to it!

That building is a lovely piece of modelling. I look forward to seeing it "plastered up".

Thanks!
Well a small update. I've added venetian blinds to some of the windows, and also some greeblies/nurnies. I'll be concentrating on this area of the building as it's this section that will be seen from the end of the alley.

Default Wrigleyville : Background Buildings

I've done the majority of the ducting, air conditioners and signage on these buildings. There's a few pipes to join up and stuff. Then I'll be onto the street level of this section, dress some of the shop fronts, street furniture and stuff...
I'm going as quickly as I can, it's back to work on Friday so won't have as much time. I shall keep chipping away at it though. I'm looking forward to the point where I can begin texturing and bring it to life, there's still some modelling to be done before then though!

It's becoming an epic build. Glad you've stuck with it because it's going to be well worth seeing.
