Hi everyone!

We're back and I believe for good. I have a lot of expenses to cover yet but I also want to thank all of those who have helped to this point. The service will be a little slower because I have really paired back expenses but we're here.

If you want o donate more you can do so directly to our paypal account. The email for it is:

Welcome back everyone!

Definitely slower, but not too bad.

Images are slower but the loading of threads is faster.

w00t! I tried coming back (after a very long absence) only to find that DNS wasn't pointing anywhere and I kind of panicked. Glad to see it's back!

Thanks for sticking to it Bob. I'll try to chip in some when I can. Yeah, the images are a little slow but I'll deal. I mostly read the posts in hopes of getting some insight and inspiration.

If image load spead is an issue, we should maybe make suggestions about image size, especially for photo competitions etc.

Perhaps even reduce the maximum size and allow 'links to hi res versions'?

I have missed you guys so much! I wish I could help financially but we had a storm last week and lightning fried my PC, the insurance will only give me $180 after deductible and loss of value so now I have to come up with enough money to buy a new computer. Once that's done, I'll try to donate something. I'm glad F3d is back.

As for images, you might suggest people upload them to another sight and just post a link.

It was about 2 years ago that F3D changed the image posting policy to allow for putting your images elsewhere and linking to them.

If you go in and look a Madkoifish's threads, you'll see that's what he's been doing and his threads are loading very quickly even now. Once the site chooses to respond.

Hmm, I see that. How are they done then. It shows a smaller version and when you click on it, it is from another site. Might have to ask MKF himself I guess.

Let me see if I can make this work:

Provide a link to the full size image (via deviantart):

Create a smaller resolution version and attach to message as a preview:

Not quite as elegant as what MKF is doing but I can't seem to get it to display an image linked from deviantart.

Next try: copy and paste the code from the F3D single file uploader, then replace the link URL with the one from deviantart.

Ah ha! There we go. Now I have the F3D generated thumbnail linking to the deviantart image.

So here's what you do:

Use the "single file upload utility" to upload your low resolution image. It took me about 10 seconds to upload this 800 x 640 image. Make sure it's in .jpg format!!!!

Step 2: once it's uploaded, it will give you a code to copy and paste. Copy that and paste it into your post.

Step 3: do not submit your post just yet!!

Step 4: go to your full size image and copy the address from the address bar at the top of your browser

Step 5: come back to your post. The code F3D gave you will start with url=http://www.foundation3d.com/uploads. . . etc Select that link to the closing bracket then paste in the link for your image.

Step 6: submit your post.

Step 7: click the image in your post to make sure it works.

To better illustrate what I mean, here is a screen capture of the code provided by F3D for the first image in my post:

Here is a clip of what the code looks like after I replace the first link address:
