Default Space - quick and dirty space scene

Hey guys Just thought I'd send in a fast image I did last night for fun. Maya 3D and Fusion for comp. Let me know what you think. obviously could use some more work but thought it was pretty good for the time I put into it. Many thanks to planetpixelemporium.com for the textures.

Cheers,
Simon

btw don't ask why the earth is orange lol. Just think of an old dying sun casting that odd copperish tone....... I just thought it looked cool lol.

Interesting.

But on an astronomy note, to cast that kind of colour on Earth the sun would have to be the size of Venus' orbit, which would have fried Earth long ago :P

Very nice, lovely colouring. It almost looks like a site banner or some such though I'd quite like to see a larger version

I like the colour scheme in this and it definitely suggest the final days of Earth.

I can see it as a color-toned banner or a 'flashback' kind of image. Or maybe the Goa'uld, or some other alien species from some other sci fi, has introduced an element to the sun to make it shift to that color spectrum. Or maybe it's just a cool, quick and dirty CGI image of the Earth In any case, I like it

That's a really tight image . . . very sharp. I do get a sense of depth from the image especially to the left of the planet. As for the color tint, you know I know on 3d forums folks tend to lean towards the 'real' but you know, this type of regimental thinking takes away from artistic freedom sometimes. wheather or not the orange tint is a mistake I like it, I can look at the image and go where I want with it. . . nicely done

Nice, and I assume the coloring is stylized (and if so, that's cool), but if not, your coloring needs work.

Nice comp.

It's certainly a nice looking image, it is interesting to see the Earth done in a different colour scheme like this, does kind of suggest some sort of post apocalyptic world.

Put an Aliens ship or a borg cube in that scene ad I think it works really well. I've no problem with the discoloration of the Earth from a strictly fictional POV.

Hey, Simon! I wasn't around the previous LWG for a while, and it's great to see some work from you again.

Lovely image. Simplicity is tough to pull off well, but you've done just that.

I love the way the image looks, but the stars are really what get me. Well done I think. I'd like to pull something like that off in LW myself.
