Am I the only person who wants a MKF "Ship of the Line" calendar?

Seriously, awesome work. Makes me ache to have FUN time with LightWave (or Blender, believe it or not; it's becoming easy for me now) again. Alas, client work means lots of parking lots, and buildings, and fires, and security scanners, and stuff that just isn't as cool as spaceships.

Great work, MKF.

Glad to be a source of motivation to someone

those aft tubes are the torps. 4X in total if I remember. 2fore 2 aft.

I rebuilt that ob room and added some details to things. nit much since I was not home most of the evening. Still so, so with that room, I think I might remove that upper bevel so that it strictly opens downward. Room is a bit on the large side for a pair of controllers too lol. I think I gave the bay too much roof and this is why Im fighting this part to clear the roof line and align to the hall in the area between the ceiling and the hull.

Good observation deck. Are you going to continue the two red lines around to the rear?

Think this is it for the bridge dome bit. Ignore the mapping error on the B&C decks, not bothering to correct the mapping until I am finished with that deck/part.

Yeah, with the registration back there that would work. Right now they look like they were left hanging there.

The bridge module looks good. But then, your modelling always does.

New registry, I know the 6 and 9 doesn't match the proper font but I spent 2 hrs looking for the old font and then promptly forgot to chamfer those corners. Im sorta on the fence here ATM. I just cannot find the original font. This one is just a bit too heavy for my tastes.

Removing the outline helps some. I think this will be it even with the flaws. The 1770 registry is EHH dunno. Maybe I should go with a lower #? 1756 or something.Even the 17** is a bit eh, since I think some connies had 16** registries.

Found the other font thanks to EG180 It isnt perfect but much MUCH better than the other One of the 6's is corrected to how it should look, the only other bleah is the uneven chamfer inside of the 6 and 9. All easy fixes if you do something with them before cutting the bloody hull lol. OOPS.
chose 1669 and 1666 and no I didn't verify if these were open, just do not feel like googling through RPGs and other sites for the next 4 hours.

Mnemosyne.

I would guess "neh-moh-sine", half mnemonics and half limosine.

HA, guess what, I cannot decide, paint in the grooves or paint not in the grooves, for now I will cut the opening for the reg #s and keep both parts to see what everyone thinks.

Paint in the grooves. It makes no "real world" sense to be so fussy as to paint only the raised panels while carefully avoiding painting in the grooves.

(Oh and p.s., this looks kick-ass!)

It depends on whether or not StarFleet paints the pennants on or uses decals. If it's paint, it would be in the grooves. If it's a decal, it would jump the gap.

Either way, having it in the grooves creates a better visual continuity.

YEAH one of the arguments I have is that and against it in the fact those panels come off and well maybe those grooves are part of the deflection system etc? lol As said It is easy to swap. I left the painted grooves object visible.

Here I have cut both ship reg and aligned em etc. I dunno where else if anywhere I would cut anymore maybe the ships rump? IE the USS LETHE bit. The numbers are a PITA since I have 1 got to edit the font each time or 2 clone off from cutters for the saucer underside reg. lol. Maybe I could put the ships name somewhere near the shuttle bay and on the side of the bay? ala the Kelvin?

Oh and heh I totally forgot, I need to do rcs thrusters on the bloody nacelles. Once I do that and maybe a set on the arse end and some shuttle bay details this project will get the DONE stamp on it. Oh maybe so something more with the bussards.

If you see something I missed lemme know!

Looks fantastic.

I wouldn't put the registry number on the fantail by itself. I'd have it be the ship's name over the registry.

(Of course, if you wanted to be really different, you'd have something like the ship's name, over its port of registry. That's something we haven't seen on Trek before.)

That's what I was meaning the ships name on the things buttox, or somewhere on the shuttle bay.

I think the paint looks better outside the grooves but it still looks good either way.

So far your outnumbered 4 to one on the paint in the cracks!
I do have to restate those panels are designed with removal in mind, similar to how the NX-01 had its panels removed to access the warp coils.
If SF paints the doors closed or not I really don't have a opinion. I have the same against as for in this matter.
ATM it looks like paint in the crack will win this.

I can't help myself but to vote for the underdog...

So, no to paint in the grooves for me

It looks like it is time to work on the ships self lighting (if any) and clean up UVWs and this one is done. As mentioned I might look at doing something for those bussards, since they are a bit plain right now. (fins etc)

It's ugly and beautiful at the same time. More like some transitonal ship or prototype. I really like it.
