Default Software - Planet Texture Generator

Yo guys check this out, a Planet Texture Generator for all your 3D planet needs this is great. Got the freeware software at http://orbiter.dansteph.com/?news=79

This is a pic of what you can do with it when you do it right.

Yes I know the planet texture doesn't look that good when you generate them but with a little work in photoshop you can fix the map.

The biggest planet texture size you can get with this software is around 9k the pic of the planet you see I made its textures are around 4k everything els like clouds atmosphere i had to build on planet in lightwave using presets.

I found some decent planetary maps for our solar system somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find them and post the link. They seemed to have pretty good quality.

Actually, I just did a search and found them. Here is the link: PlanetPixelEmporium

np took me almost a week of searching to find this software, I didn't make it though so I give full credit to who did.

By the way if you really make some sweet or almost photo real planets plz post them up and maybe share how u did it.

I use lunarcell from Flaming Pear, it's a Photoshop filter. I also use Digital Heavens Cosmic Pack 2.

Default May I suggest:

Celestia Motherlode:
http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/
Some very high res stuff here, though the highest res is in a painful format.

For the best planetary maps for realism:
http://www.mmedia.is/~bjj/planetary_maps.html
Bjorn Jonsson.

For insanely high re Earth, NASA's blue marble, second generation:
http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view_se...ategoryID=2355

US Geological Survey map-a-planet to order:
http://pdsmaps.wr.usgs.gov/maps.html

I find I get better results by combining real maps than using any generator. Particularly handy to use non-viosible channels - radar maps of Venus and roughness maps of Mars make great fake moons with loads of detail.
