12 years of research in body topology
Since the first release, makehuman uses a unique mesh, that has evolved through successive releases, incorporating community feedback and the result of studies and experimentation.
  • Optimized for subdivision, Mudbox and Zbrush
  • Loops optimized for animations
  • No triangles, quads only
  • Max pole edges: 5
  • Poles < 1%
  • Topologies library.
So when modeling a character myself, I can use this is a solid guideline for topology, right?

Well, you have to admit that "12 years of research" sounds a whole lot better than "glacially slow development progress"!

Looks pretty good. It'll be interesting to see how this develops to give Poser/DAZ some opposition!

I think the real strength will be that we can at last make figures (such as for pilots) that can be included with our models.

I have yet to try getting anything out and into another package, but the setup of the character was pretty painless.
