Default Software - Bryce. Daz Pro, Hexagon currently free!

DAZ is making DAZ Studio Pro, Bryce 7 Pro and Hexagon 2.5 available as free
downloads, probably for just a limited time:

Having paid for DS3 A and the upgrade to DS4 A -- on one hand Im delighted to be able to get the pro version for free, then again, not so keen about the $ I spent earlier.

I know what you mean - fortunately I am the other way around. I nearly spent 200+ on the midrange Daz studio version, but decided against it. So the full top end one for free is great news for me.

I'd seriously suggest that the full Daz Studio Pro is worth a download for almost everyone who does CGI, even if only for its ability to take in Poser and Genesis format content and export to FBX and other formats.

Review here:
http://www.3dworldmag.com/2012/01/14...-studio-4-pro/

I tried hexagon a few years back - its not going to have anyone throwing away their copy of Lightwave or Maya, but I was seriously impressed with the docs, it looked very easy to learn. Not least because tools had small animations showing them in action. I'd say its well worth a look for someone looking for a cheap entry point to CGI as a hobby.

I've not seen Bryce in action in may years - not since it pretty much only did flat fractal noise skies, and mercury seas with single fractal mountains floating in them.I found this review in 3d world though:
http://www.3dworldmag.com/2010/11/12...-7-pro-review/

Where they praise its new instancing, IBL, and ease of learning, (though there were still stability issues in the version they tested - cough, Vue, cough).

It sounds like its well worth a look by anyone who is fed up with Vue, or wants a cheaper alternative.

Nick

Why they first selling those to people and then publish them for FREE? That's not fair...

I'm sure if you ask them nicely you can give them $800!
Or if not, give it to Bob to help with the running of F3D!

Just because Norway has fjords doesn't mean it's pretty than Sweden.

And besides, you've got the Swiss Alps. Nobody else has the Swiss Alps.

Apart from the Swiss?

Sweden's on my list of places to go, though Norway is higher on that list admittedly And Iceland higher still which is why I'm off there in 5 weeks time

How did this thread get to being about Sweden and Swedes?

Not unhappy about free PRO Daz products - not in the slightest - perhaps sad that I paid for DS3 A and its upgrade to DS4A and the game devleopers Kit to get FBX export that's now included in DS4 Pro only - will def be d/ling Bryce 7 Pro and of course DS 4 Pro -- heck I'll probably grab Hexagon Just in Case :P

I suspect that's the expiry on the download link. Daz typically give you 4 days to download. (You can request a reset after that, its not a problem I've done it many times myself, including for stuff where the price has gone up after the sale is over).

Personally I try and save the download / install files anyway, just in case.

Should be an .exe. Check your downloads page. There are options for showing windows only files, mac only, or both. You may have the mac version by mistake (although that should have a .dmg extension)

It downloads...

I went and changed the extension, well actually added the
"DAZStudio_4.0.3.47_Win64.47.exe" to the end..

well also the file is from the "free.downloads.s3.amazon.com" server ????

Hexagon is their Modeller, I bought it way back when it belonged to I can't recall who
It's got some good features though, some things, not so great, but others LW is still missing, so for nowt, worth the download.
