That's a great article. I've been learning some of that working with a local fellow to do some 3D printing.

Great article and I will be using it definitely. Id like to share a small but annoying "gotcha" for those people using the Makerbot 2X. That particular machine only takes SD cards of 2GB formatted as a FAT device. I went happily down to get my model printed and my 8GB FAT32 card was rejected. The annoying part is that it is getting difficult to find 2GB SD cards, so if you see one, snap it up! Or you can reformat a larger card to a smaller size but I find that such a waste!

u can also print from usb, and have done so with big prints with no problems, using Simplify3D program.
