Default Stargate - RA Entry - Under the Pyramid

I rather like the current RA challenge, and decided to have a go.

Japa's Egyptian Tomb looks like a very promising setting, and as Stargate has an Egyptian background, placing one of those ships in the tomb seems like a good idea.

I'm not that familiar with Stargate, but poking around resources I loved the shape of Mikala's Weaith Dart. so that might be the one that ends up there.

The tomb lacks a roof, and I might move some of the bits around.

Currently trying some very basic separate renders.

Whoo hoo! Neat stuff. Are you planing to make it look more museum like, or full of cobwebs and dust like some recent discovery?

I'm not sure yet - there's plenty of time for this one, so I'll probably try a lot of different stuff. I think the lighting will need to be spot on, but it definitely needs some clutter.

I tried a couple of darts in the chamber, but although I really like the shape, I think its a bit too close to life size, and maybe a ship that would more obviously be miniature would work better...

Or you clone the walls out so the tomb is longer? just a thought.

i like it, the only problem i see is that the egyptian theme ties in with Stargate SG-1 and the Dart is from Stargate Atlantis, but i dont know if that was something you're going for?

Lynx - that's close enough for me!

Anyway, I decided to try a different ship, and I think this one works better.

I like the idea of maybe a Goa'uld museum with spaceship minatures.. Or maybe a garage for prking smaller craft like the wraith dart.

Trying something new with this.

The lighting had me stuck - there wasn't much in the way of 'natural' lighting for this setting, so I previously ignored a visible light source.

I decided for a visible high tech light source, and made a rounded oblong tube light for the ceiling and one for near the floor. Top one cool coloured, lower warm.

Entirely lit by these luminous tubes.

I tried to do a render with that tomb set once and the lighting is a true p.i.t.a. That one looks good. How about making the tubes smaller though? They kind of overwhelm the background.

God idea - I may have to crank the radiosity strength up a lot though, which makes me nervous...

I'll give it a go...

That looks good.

Of course, visitors can't walk through the doorway now.

I did notice that, but was not sure what to do, apart from 'brick up' the entrance, or put something in there...

I've put bars across the entrance, so it looks like you are not meant to climb over the glowing tube, added a third pillar, and tweaked the camera position and light levels.
