Thanks Rigel, I'm putting together half a dozen video clips, and I'm planning to make a 3 minute documentary explaining how the whole thing works and so on. This bit is going on the end, but works as a stand alone I think.

Cool animation nick…I was going to ask way no music, but I believe you have inadvertently answered that in your last post…I like the 3 minute documentary idea always good to have some background history

Thanks Eden - yes, I will add music to the final one. I had to take two steps back on the sound track software, with a major misunderstanding on my part, but I'm getting there. I think I've just finished my first proper one with 'hits' at key moments that is not completely derivative.

I guess its asking a bit much to pick it up in a week! But I think its easy enough that in 2 I'll be really on top of it.

I think I've got it done. Here's a 3 minute mini documentary, full screen for full HD recommended.

I think there's a little fine tuning needed with some of the sonic hits - I'm getting a synch issue I don't quite understand between the two programs - I'm wondering if its down to formats, or very slightly different frame rates...

Anyway, please rip it up if you see anything wrong or ugly - I want this to be really good, so even minor areas for improvement are very welcome.

Nick

I think the music fits very nicely Nick.

The first few slides of information could have held a bit longer to give slower readers a chance to read them. People will have to pause the video to read the whole thing.

Other than that, I see nothing wrong with it.

Thanks Rigel - I was really unsure about that. Static sections could get boring so I didn't want to leave it there too long. Sound like I overshot the mark.

Maybe I should try reading it aloud slowly?

I can only echo what Rigel has already said, on the music and the first few slides of information. I think the addition of a couple of static rendered wireframe stills of the modeling would not go a miss...nice work Nick well done

Thanks Eden -= A wireframe is a good idea!

I'm wondering if there is any sort of accepted standard for how long to leave words on screen for each word or something like that.

I think it would help to have something moving if the words will be up for a while...

Although I generally don't like when people do this, you could slowly move the photo or slowly zoom into as the time passes for that bit of text. Personally I find it annoying and distracting, but I've seen that trick used many times.

I know what you mean...

Thing is, I think any movement is likely to distract from reading the text. I think the short ones work OK, things like highlighting the attitude jets and ion engines.

The more I think about it, the more I think the answer is to do what the pros do - make a voiceover. I really hate my own recorded voice though!

Maybe there's some software that would emulate the Steven Hawking fake voice?!

Everyone hates their own voice.

Record a the first few lines, send it to me and I'll tell you whether or not you should do your own voice over. We simply cannot judge how others hear our voices.

For example, I think I have the worst voice on the planet. I've had people tell me that I have a great voice, I should be a radio broadcaster and some people tell me I sound just like a broadcaster who is on CBC radio. From my perspective, I don't sound anything like that guy and I'd drive listeners to another station if they had to listen to me.

Hmmm...

Now that does give me an idea!

Experimenting for an extended video this section has the sunship passing low over Mars. (For the Mars background I unrolled the Mars textures I uploaded to resources)

Very well done Nick, I really like the music and animation. Love the Mars fly by video.

Thank You! Sonic fire is not so good at ambient electronica (my favourite type of music) but this works OK I think...

Of course, unrolling Mars is a horrible cheat!!!
